If any school is going to do such a stupid thing as discourage vaccines, then yea they should be abolished.

It says they think vaccinated individuals may be emitting something from their body that causes reproductive issues in women with whom they are in contact. 🤦‍♂️

It's astounding to me, being in close contact with these people, how many Republicans are truly very scared of the vaccines.

Fake news is a genuine problem in this country, but it's almost all propagated and spread by the right.

It's wrong.

It's not accurate, it's outdated. And this thread title was being changed all the time, or closed and restarted for a new version, now it's stuck on this really outdated news? Really? Someone can come up with another inventive name.

So true. And until regulated it will unfortunately grow worse!

As I noted a few weeks ago, Justice is corrupt, but he has done an excellent job with his coronavirus response, and has had one of the best responses of any Republican Governor.

JFC. I’ve been fully vaccinated for a week now and I’ve stopped wearing a mask outside but who tf cares if someone else does?  Also, our CPS systems are bad enough as is don’t burden them further with this bs.

I'm just gonna mention the....interesting Carlson claim that "a Pew survey from last March found that 64% of white Americans who classify themselves as liberal or very liberal have been diagnosed with an actual mental health condition".

Carlson seems to be considering mask-wearing to be akin to a mental illness. It's insane how the anti-mask rhetoric from the right continues on, more than a year into the pandemic. Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans are still wearing masks in public.

I remember when Michael Jackson made his kids wear masks it was the liberals calling it abuse and the conservatives calling it parental freedom.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 4/26 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

ΔW Change: Comparisons of Weekly Day-to-day Growth or Decline of COVID-19 Spread/Deaths.
  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE:What's the overall change in the total?

Brackets []: These represent the total change for the day, including backlogged reports, if any.
  • These numbers are inflated relative to the actual reports for the day, so they are not used to calculate the comparative percentage shifts.

Older Numbers (Hidden in spoiler mode to make the post more compact)

Wow. A prime example that "creative" (read: messed-up) definitions might lead you to any result you wish.

Republican doctors in Congress put out a PSA urging people to get the vaccine and calling it the only way to get back to normalcy. This is absolutely true.

I commend them for this effort. Many Republican voters have been hesitant about obtaining the vaccine because of their distrust (unfounded, in my view), of Dr. Fauci, the CDC, and public health experts in general-to say nothing of Democratic governors, mayors, and councils who have imposed coronavirus restrictions. Perhaps they will be more likely to heed appeals from their own politicians; even Trump is now telling his supporters to get the vaccine. There is one prominent Republican doctor in Congress who did not appear in this PSA, however. I'm sure everyone knows who that is.

These Republican doctors coddled Trump-Qanoners and their conspiracy theories surrounding Covid and vaccines for years. They tacitly supported the spread of this misinformation for cynical political gain in 2020. It will take more than a nice video to reverse years of this.

I am glad they’re doing this now, but don’t expect us to forget the deal y’all made with the idolizers of the golden statue for gains in Congress. You can not make a deal with the false prophets and pretend the World didn’t see it. Each and every seat won in the house this year was won on the backs of the Qanon cult that has been indulged by these manufactured “moderates” for way too long.

Maybe these doctors should do an examination on their own spines, if anything is left back there (and for the males, down there as well)

Some good news on the California front. Especially after the disastrous surge we had had this past fall:

LA Times: In dramatic turnaround, California now has the lowest coronavirus case rate in the U.S.

Quote
Months after a coronavirus surge sickened hundreds of thousands of people, left thousands dead and pushed hospitals to their breaking point, California’s virus case rate is now the lowest of any state in the nation, federal figures show.

Although the distinction doesn’t lessen the heavy toll exacted by the fall-and-winter wave, it does demonstrate the tremendous strides the state has made in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic — progress that, to this point, has not been interrupted even as the state more widely reopens its economy.

For the record:

9:34 AM, Apr. 27, 2021An earlier version of this article reported that Dr. Mark Ghaly, the California Health and Human Services secretary, said that until October diners should probably eat outdoors at restaurants. Ghaly said people will probably prefer dining outdoors at restaurants instead of indoors until that time.

California’s latest seven-day rate of new cases was 32.5 per 100,000 people, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Over that same period, Hawaii had the second-lowest rate, at 36.8, and the nationwide rate was 114.7. California has for weeks reported one of the lowest case rates in the nation — though the top spot had remained largely out of reach.
