Just got my 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine last week. All that red....could this be the final surge of the virus??  I have feeling it could be and it won’t be as bad thanks to the vaccines.

No surge in the UK, which prioritized first doses.

I really hope we get a vaccination mandate soon. The sooner we're out of all this the better.

The main people not getting the vaccine are the homeless as long as there is no vaccine mandate they can spread it on buses and trains to ordinary nary people

I doubt it will ever be directly mandated.

But I would support private companies mandating it.

Wanna take a cruise? Show your vaccine card.
Wanna shop for groceries? Show your vaccine card.
Wanna attend a baseball game? Show your vaccine card.

While it seems like an overreach for the government to force vaccinations, I think offering incentives to private companies that require them for access would be terrific.  All these rednecks and conspiracy theorists who support Trump need a good, continual kick in the nuts everytime they try to do something that puts others in danger simply because they’re too stupid to wear a mask or take a safe shot.

There needs to be a lot more vaccine distribution first.

How can there be if it's voluntary, it's not mando we get the shot, and you can still get the virus but symptoms would be less severe, just like with antibiotics and TB, you still have the virus but symptoms less severe.

I still cough and I got vaccinated

The flu and pneumonia vaccines are there and people still come down with pnemonia

I'm not buying it because Trump and GOP saw huge Increases in both covid cases and deaths during 2020 yet trump still barely lost the elections and the Republicans actually gained a lot of seats.

I just think that the politics behind covid is too polarizing for any party to get hurt by it at this point.

The Bottom line, if Biden continues to do well on vaccine distribution and actually succeeds in making the vaccine widely available to the American people than I think he and the Dems will be fine even if there is a rise in cases

COVID cases down to record lows not seen since September in Texas, three weeks after Gov Abbott allowed the mask mandates to expire.  There has been zero coverage of this from mainstream media outlets outside Fox News.  I wonder why. 🤔

Average # cases per day, Texas
March 1st: 7,693
March 7th: 6,083
March 14th: 4,540
March 21st: 3,898
March 28th: 4,005

Let's compare that with Florida, where measures have been laissez-faire for months.  Cases steady.

Average # cases per day, Florida
March 1st: 5,428
March 7th: 5,111
March 14th: 4,545
March 21st: 4,506
March 28th: 5,094

And Michigan, where measures were harsh and only recently have begun to lift.  Mask mandate still in place.  Large increase here, where variant is now the prevalent strain and population has not yet reached any form of herd immunity.  Dangerous situation unfolding.

Average # cases per day, Michigan
March 1st: 1,349
March 7th: 1,510
March 14th: 1,975
March 21st: 3,040
March 28th: 4,605

Do the harsh lockdowns and mandates have any impact?  The "science" is not very clear, but I would argue no.  If anything, it has resulted in harsher case spikes during reopening phases, as seen in Michigan and in Ontario and Italy at the international level.

Especially in light of the recent study showing that the vaccines are 90% effective at stopping infection entirely, it seems like we should be lifting all restrictions on fully vaccinated people, including masks.

I have to say, it is really frustrating to see how much difficulty people in Chicago are having in getting vaccine appointments compared to the rest of the state.

It is like the hunger games in the city and suburbs - people are staying up late into the night hitting refresh, driving hours to get the jab, and working with vaccine "hunters" to get an appointment. Meanwhile, I look at the appointments available in more rural areas like Quincy, Moline, Carbondale, and there are appointments open all day just sitting unused.

I understand that distribution is more challenging in heavily populated areas, but resources should be allocated proportionately, then.

This is some pretty lazy cherrypicking. Your entire "science" breaks down if I choose a state like, say, California.

Average # cases per day, California
March 1st: 4,197
March 7th: 2,754
March 14th: 2,248
March 21st: 1,948
March 28th: 2,169

A state almost twice the size of Florida and Texas is getting only half the number of cases.

So according to my "science", the states that didn't do mandates and lockdowns are doing worse than the states that did.

What I'm doing isn't scientific in the slightest either, but at least I acknowledge that I'm cherrypicking.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 3/30 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

ΔW Change: Comparisons of Weekly Day-to-day Growth or Decline of COVID-19 Spread/Deaths.
  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE:What's the overall change in the total?

Brackets []: These represent the total change for the day, including backlogged reports, if any.
  • These numbers are inflated relative to the actual reports for the day, so they are not used to calculate the comparative percentage shifts.

4-3 strike down of the mask mandate by the WISC, so there you go, conservatives being a death cult again! Bad omen for the next pandemic.

Answer: Because the mainstream media is totally, completely corrupt and in the tank for the democratic party. Also: they get more $$$ from fearmongering
