Happy COVID Anniversary everyone. It's been 1 year (give or take a few days for the region) since everything here went to hell.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 3/10 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

ΔW Change: Comparisons of Weekly Day-to-day Growth or Decline of COVID-19 Spread/Deaths.
  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE:What's the overall change in the total?

Brackets []: These represent the total change for the day, including backlogged reports, if any.
  • These numbers are inflated relative to the actual reports for the day, so they are not used to calculate the comparative percentage shifts.

Happy COVID Anniversary everyone. It's been 1 year (give or take a few days for the region) since everything here went to hell.

We now begin our second year of "2 more weeks."

Just 2 more weeks this time! You only have to miss 2 more weeks of school and stay at home for 2 more weeks! We promise! Trust us this time!

On a more positive note, nationwide 7-day positivity rate crashed down to 4.1% yesterday - another record.

It appears the US will hit 100 million vaccination doses today, exactly 50 days (not 100 as promised) into Biden's term.

Biden will announce tonight that all Americans will be eligible for the vaccine by May 1st. I think that means eligible to sign up, there won't be enough supply for everyone until the end of May.

I don’t see a separate thread for it so I’m commenting here.

Biden’s address so far is just...wow.  This is a true leader.

I am so much more hopeful with Biden’s leadership against the crisis of covid-19.

Under-promise; over-deliver. This seems to be the way to go, and I hope Biden keeps up with it. It's the complete opposite of the Trump administration's credo.

THANK YOU MR PRESIDENT!

(Fox News Tonight)

"Can we really trust a President who says 'May one' instead of 'May first!?' How out-of-touch can one person be! He also didn't say a single word about Dr. Seuss or 'Space Jam 2!' You know, the real issues afflicting real Americans!"

There are times when history calls heroes into action.  History called on a leader to address the pandemic early on, Trump failed.  The Trump cabinet was called to invoke the 25th Amendment, they failed.  Congress failed to impeach Trump.

History is calling again right now, and Biden is answering the call.  He might be my favorite US president at this point.  Still very early to say but he has made it his mission to get the country through the single greatest crisis we have seen in modern times and no one can say he hasn’t stepped up to the plate; he’s still at bat even, and has pledged to remain at the plate to see things through.

Donald Trump never even got to the plate.  He didn’t go to bat for us.  He lied to us and he folded early.  Joe Biden is the polar opposite of Trump, and how much more secure we are with his leadership.

2022 is going to feel so weird, because it will be the year everything is finally returned to "normal". Although the handshake is probably dead and masks might just become a regular fashion thing.

Thank you, President Biden.

Just got a surprise e-mail from Wisconsin Public Health! I'm getting my vaccine dose tomorrow. I'll have to drive 45 minutes to get to the clinic with the surplus supply, but it's well worth the drive.

What he means is that 2022 will be the first year entirely in the "post-Covid" era, with everything back at normal-so far as normal can possibly be devised. The pandemic will have a permanent impact upon some aspects of society. It has accelerated the death of the traditional movie theater industry, and has put a dent into the bottom-line of museums and other such entertainment venues. Schools, although resuming in-person instruction, will probably incorporate more technology into their curriculums going forward. Masks will be worn by some people during flu season, and the stigma which they had prior to the pandemic will be gone. And I think people will be more cognizant of their health then they were before.
