Does anyone know if the vaccine is supposed to give lasting immunity, or if we’ll have to get a vaccine every year like the flu?

Given how short the vaccine has been around, we have no idea yet! It seems like immunity after infection holds up pretty well so far (see here for example) and there's no particular reason to think immunity generated by a vaccine would be different from immunity generated by a live infection, but this is something we'll have to figure out through trial and error over time.

As far as I know, it is yet unknown whether the vaccine will actually provide immunity. BUT, it's being confirmed the Pfizer vaccine prevents 100% of severe COVID cases. Ergo, it may not stop the spread of the virus, but prevent further deaths and suffering.

The tweet is misleading.  The directive is to save oxygen for the sickest patients, not leave them to die at home.  FFS, and people seriously wonder how the media isn't public enemy #1?

The photo in the picture doesn’t match because that is directive 7.
If you look at the Twitter thread a photo of the transport directive is also provided below.
Frankly I’m more annoyed that he didn’t use the transport order photo first because I knew certain people would twist any story given on here just to live in fantasyland and that these types of people seem to also be the types who can’t be bothered to even open up a tweet before commenting.

But sure, it’s the “evil media” and libruhl left’s fault you didn’t look before writing.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 1/5 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE: What's the overall change in the total?

Lucky!
Hopefully you don’t feel too many side effects. The more people we get vaccinated the better (although I strongly believe Atlas posters should get priority over everyone else)

My occupation allows me to get it right now.  I’m considered public safety.  I also believe it’s up to each state.  I read in GA people aged 65+ will start being allowed to get it soon too.  I truly hope so, because I’m very concerned about my grandmother.

As I posted earlier, my mom got lucky to just be at a vaccination site at the end of the day when they had extra stock that was going to spoil.  (She was with my dad who got the vaccine as a medical worker.)

New York’s case numbers have now clearly surged past the 10,000-ish range they have been in for the last month. Today’s case numbers are record breaking for the state, and the daily deaths are the highest for the second wave. Clearly exponential growth is now occurring, so the state must increase restrictions, probably with another lockdown. It is better to play it safe by acting quickly rather than dithering and regretting it later.

Excellent decision!

We also need to stop giving the vaccine right now to people who have already had covid. All the evidence suggests that they already have immunity that is at least as effective as the vaccine, so this is just wasteful during a time in which we need to be thinking mostly above maximizing efficiency of spreading immunity.  They should get the vaccine, but only once it is widely available to everyone.

My mother (healthcare worker) got her first dose and feels fine. I am hoping to get one of the straggler doses at the close of day that they have leftover.

They also started giving shots at Publix, so you can go get a chicken tender sub and save humanity while you're at it. But go plant based and skip the chicken sub altogether to save the planet.

Two doses are absolutely needed for there to be any real effectiveness. Hopefully somebody who actually knows what they're doing will convince Biden to backtrack on this.

I'm not sure that's 100% true is it?  I've read that with, say, the Moderna vaccine...the first dose is about 80% effective, and the second dose gets you up to about 95%.
