Why do you think states with Republican governors are doing better with actual application of vaccinations?

Because my once-great Democratic Party has turned into a complete joke. The Democratic Party of 1991 would have administered many times the number of vaccines. All they care about now is painting social distancing circles on the grass at a park where they have a rally - if they're not too terrified to even have the rally. In 1991, we would have laughed right in their faces if they did this.

Recently I saw a piece on a Democratic blog about how we should all be following orders and doing what we're told without questioning anything. Blindly following authority is not why I declared myself to be a liberal Democrat in 1991.

I refuse to be dragged over the cliff with this joke of a party, because I practice critical thinking.

In the meantime, here's a story about New York letting vaccines spoil:

How did Israel get access to so much vaccine?  They’ve already vaccinated 20% of their population; not other major country is over 2%.  Even if we had actually used all our supply, we’d only be at 6%.
Prime Minister Netanyahu?

Pfizer has agreed to speed distribution to Israel in exchange for records of adverse reactions. Israel keeps more records of their citizens, uses paper ballots, requires ID to vote, and has walls to keep out illegal immigrants.

Ah, so build the wall so we can all get vaccinated. Ok.

All the MAGA cultist anti vaxxers in the US are dragging down the numbers.

It's shocking what a disingenuous, belligerent nutcase jimrtex is when discussing the actual issues. He should really stick to the redistricting app.
Why do you think states with Republican governors are doing better with actual application of vaccinations?

For example, there are 16 States with more than 3% vaccinated. 11 of those 15 have Republican governors:

WV, SD, ND, VT, AK, NE, NH, MT, TN, IA, OK

Only five have Democrat governors.

ME, CT, CO, NM, RI

President Trump should get more doses to the Dakotas so that they don't run out.

At a glance, this looks practically like a list of the smallest states.

She is under 60 and appears to be in reasonably good health, she will probably be alright. I'm much more worried about Watson Coleman who is 75 and another one of our best reps.

MTG and the other maskless Republicans are foul, dirty people.

It seems like vaccine distribution right now is heavily correlated with how white a state is.  Likely much more another example of institutional racism than anything else.

Here are the worst states by % of shots given:

Jurisdiction   Doses distributed   Doses administered   % shots used
Alabama   326,850   76,528   23.4
Georgia   770,625   183,870   23.9
North Carolina   820,825   211,572   25.8
Alaska   132,350   35,027   26.5
Arizona   563,025   151,844   27.0
California   2,833,400   782,638   27.6
Nevada   205,200   58,651   28.6
Mississippi   192,750   55,399   28.7

Hmm, what do AL, GA, NC, and MS have in common?  How about CA, NV, and AZ?

  • IE: What's the overall change in the total?

Again, people caught not wearing masks should be specifically triaged.
The personal responsibility argument lolbertarians make would actually play out if we did that.

Trump had his chance a long time ago to start a MAGA mask movement. He could tell his supporters to wear a MAGA mask, and say you can't go to my rally or vote for me if you die from Covid.

Catastrophe.

Quote
A Texas trauma surgeon says it's rare that X-rays from any of her COVID-19 patients come back without dense scarring. Dr. Brittany Bankhead-Kendall tweeted that, "Post-COVID lungs look worse than any type of terrible smoker's lung we've ever seen. And they collapse. And they clot off. And the shortness of breath lingers on... & on... & on."

Bankhead-Kendall, an assistant professor of surgery with Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, says patients who've had COVID-19 symptoms show a severe chest X-ray every time, and those who were asymptomatic show a severe chest X-ray 70 to 80% of the time.

"There are still people who say 'I'm fine. I don't have any issues,' and you pull up their chest X-ray and they absolutely have a bad chest X-ray," she said.

Post-COVID lungs worse than the worst smokers' lungs, surgeon says

So even asymptomatic people have bad lung damage. So you are talking about already 24 million confirmed cases plus potentially another 24 million asymptomatic cases that never got tested, that's nearly 50 million people already, and 70 to 80 percent of them have suffered bad lung damage already. We're going to be living with the public health damage of this for decades.

We have two days with losses analogous to the total Allied losses on D-Day.

At least those who died invading the diabolical empire of Adolf Hitler were doing the LORD's work.  People dying of COVID-19 die of the blunders of our Coward-in-Chief.

Oddly, Alabama has posted huge death numbers the last three days (almost 600), probably a recoding of past deaths.

The death toll has already surpassed

52   Bakersfield California   384,145

53   Cleveland    Ohio   381,009

54   Aurora    Colorado   379,289

55   Anaheim    California   350,365

56   Honolulu    Hawaii   345,064

America's biggest tropical tourist destination, Home of Disney's Magic Kingdom, home of one of the finest symphony orchestras in America (as well as the Cleveland baseball, basketball, and football teams), and "Nashville West".

Next two stops on the grisly tour of urban comparisons:

51   Wichita    Kansas   389,938

50   New Orleans    Louisiana   390,144

I could make a sick pun about New Orleans being "The Big Easy"... there's nothing easy about dying of COVID-19.

Almost certainly within the next few days:

49   Arlington    Texas   398,854

The Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers play here.  One of America's biggest suburbs.

48   Tampa    Florida   399,700

47   Tulsa         Oklahoma   401,190

Probably the same day as Arlington, Texas.

-- and probably in time for Inauguration Day:

46   Minneapolis    Minnesota   429,606

45   Oakland    California   433,031

Home of Clorox Corporation, which strongly disparages President Trump's suggested (internal) use of its bleach products. (Use it to clean surfaces, of course!)

New Jersey is scheduling people this far in advance?  What group are you?
I’m surprised they have that much certainty both about vaccine availability and how many people arre actually going to show up for their appointments.

Scheduled my first vaccine today, March 4th.
New Jersey is scheduling people this far in advance?  What group are you?
I’m surprised they have that much certainty both about vaccine availability and how many people arre actually going to show up for their appointments.

It's the county scheduling ours, I'm in 1B. My parents scheduled theirs a couple hours before me and their appointments are on February 27th.

It seems like vaccine distribution right now is heavily correlated with how white a state is.  Likely much more another example of institutional racism than anything else.

Here are the worst states by % of shots given:

Jurisdiction Doses distributed Doses administered % shots used
Alabama 326,850 76,528 23.4
Georgia 770,625 183,870 23.9
North Carolina 820,825 211,572 25.8
Alaska 132,350 35,027 26.5
Arizona 563,025 151,844 27.0
California 2,833,400 782,638 27.6
Nevada 205,200 58,651 28.6
Mississippi 192,750 55,399 28.7

Hmm, what do AL, GA, NC, and MS have in common?  How about CA, NV, and AZ?
Hmm, and that is distinct from LA and TX?

I can't think of anything.

p.s. I think injections per 100K is a better metric.
