The good thing about vaccine distribution is that we don’t need to vaccinate the general public inorder to reduce deaths to a tiny fraction of what we see today.

97% of covid deaths come from people over 50.  Almost all of those under 50 have a serious prexisting conditions.  So given that those demographics will be vaccinated around February, we should see deaths drop by 90% or more as long as vulnerable people are willing to get the vaccine.

Anti intellectualism and conspiracy theories are getting more popular with the MAGA cult. A lot of people are going to say Tony Fauci is a agent of the deep state, and will refuse to get a vaccine to 'own the libs'.

Noted fascist Ron DeSantis now covering up the state's COVID numbers by deploying cops to intimidate whistleblowers. Not good!

Republicans are not Americans. It’s time to drop any sympathy or Joe for these scum.

Another sad case of natural selection in action:

Former Alabama senator dies of Covid at age 78, and in his last words warns, 'We messed up'

Quote
A former Alabama state senator died of Covid-19 last week at age 78, officials said.

Former Sen. Larry Dixon, a Republican who also served as the executive director of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, died from Covid-19 on Dec. 4, the board said in a statement on Friday.

Dr. David Thrasher, a close friend of Dixon and a pulmonologist in Montgomery, told NBC News that Dixon's wife, Gaynell Dixon, told Thrasher that his last words to her were a prescient warning to the people of Alabama.

“We messed up, we let our guard down,” Dixon said, according to Thrasher. “Please tell everybody to be careful. This is real, and if you get diagnosed, get help immediately.”

Thrasher said his friend was exposed to the virus at a social gathering “with a couple of guys” that was hosted outside about two weeks ago.

Thrasher said he was unsure how many people attended, but he said he knew of two other men who attended the meetup and tested positive.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 12/7 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE: What's the overall change in the total?

Has anyone else noticed a big drop-off in cases in Wisconsin, the Plains, and northern Rockies (the states that were doing worst in October or November)? The main increase now is in California.

Also, brace yourself for a big jump in Ohio today. Ohio has announced it's releasing 13,000 extra cases that they backlogged today.

William Shakespeare has been vaccinated.

This seems like a good thing to me. The guy is literally hundreds of years old by this point, so he should be one of the most vulnerable to the virus in the world. So it is good to see he is being prioritized to get one of the first vaccine doses.

Thursday last week had 9 more deaths than yesterday, but I am sure today will be a new record based on trajectory and day-of-the-week effects.

I have a feeling lots of people became kind of numb to this ongoing tragedy. Just think of it, it's basically a 9/11 every single day. Every. single. freakin. day.

I'd strongly wager the majority of anti vaxxers are women. There's a lot of overlap with new age religion, crystals, that kind of thing. Mommy groups are filled to the brim with this garbage.
