I don't think we quite got there but we'll blow through it next week if not tomorrow.

Cases was a record today so hospitalizations & deaths are going to continue to get worse for weeks to come.

Why isn’t there national pressure to pass a stimulus bill that would put a few million unemployed people to work making and distributing vaccines?

Governor: Oklahoma will fight COVID-19 with hunger and prayers.
Quote
In response to the unchecked COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Kevin Stitt has declared a statewide day of prayer and fasting on Thursday.

“Oklahomans have always turned to prayer to guide us through trials and seasons of uncertainty, and I am asking Oklahomans of all faiths and religious backgrounds to join together with me on Thursday,” Stitt said in a press release.

“I believe we must continue to ask God to heal those who are sick, comfort those who are hurting and provide renewed strength and wisdom to all who are managing the effects of COVID-19,” the governor said.

Oh, and lemme ask, whats wrong with that? He's FOR THE PEOPLE. We have to open up, if not are economy will die. It is scientifically proven that younger people wouldn't get as sick even though they will still get sick.

It seems to me like your users are outnumbering us. Covering up our opinions! Where does the word bias come from?

Yes, you want to "open up" the economy, but this is coming from the same band of folks who will shirk at wearing a mask or socially distancing or really doing much of anything at all to deter such an action to begin with (and if you, personally, would do it, you are in the minority of your camp on this).

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Sorry. That's not how it works. We are talking about lives. Real, lives. The economy is an abstraction. Lives are not.

Unfortunately, our collective response as a country could have been unified and strong, and we'd have some more of a semblance of normality at this point. Instead, it was politicized, and roughly half the country won't budge on it anymore. So, this is where we're at.

DeSantis sabotaged Florida's coronavirus response for political ends.

Secrecy and spin: How Florida’s governor misled the public on the COVID-19 pandemic
Quote
DeSantis, who owes his job to early support from President Donald Trump, imposed an approach in line with the views of the president and his powerful base of supporters. The administration suppressed unfavorable facts, dispensed dangerous misinformation, dismissed public health professionals, and promoted the views of scientific dissenters who supported the governor’s approach to the disease.

The DeSantis administration’s approach to managing COVID-19 information carries costs. It supports a climate in which people proudly disdain masks, engage in dangerous group activities that could spread the disease, and brush aside information that conflicts with their political views. With partygoers packing Florida bars and holiday travelers filling hotels and guest rooms, the state faces a few difficult months before the possible relief of vaccines.

These findings are based on interviews with more than 50 people, including scientists, doctors, political leaders, employees of the state health department, and other state officials, as well as more than 4,000 pages of documents:

Quote
The Florida Department of Health’s county-level spokespeople were ordered in September to stop issuing public statements about COVID-19 until after the Nov. 3 election.

There's more, but in a functioning society, that one alone should see him on a swift path from governor's office to prison.

December 3rd: Highest number of cases recorded in a 24 hour period — 216K

December 2nd: Highest number of deaths recorded in a 24 hour period — 2885

These are some grim milestones we are reaching.

According to my mother (she does pulmonary research) a few of the extracted RNA sequences that a research group got from post-Covid patients (severe illness) look a lot like those of IPF.

I’m not saying it is the exact same, but that alone should be concerning. The life expectancy of those with IPF is three years upon diagnosis. So...yeah Del Taco you ed up.

What is IPF?

According to Google, "Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis", which seems to be a generic term for scarring of the lungs for unknown reasons. It seems like it would be hard to generalize about outcomes for a medical term that is specifically for an illness with an unknown cause.

Thanks.  In my work IPF means Intel Processor Family, which I was sure couldn't be relevant here. Smiley

That could put a damper on any plans Donnie has to run again.

Hopefully though these folks' life expectancy hasn't been impacted that much.

DeSuckass.

Watch him inevitably win re-election in a landslide though because Florida is the microcosm of how little our nation gives a s*** about taking this pandemic seriously.

Meanwhile, on Earth 2, Gov. Chris King has actually been caring about fighting the pandemic.

And on Earth 2, Biden won in a decisive landslide and the Democrats made gains in both Houses of Congress. Which reminds me...I'll have to resume work on the scenario I promised to do of a Democratic landslide this year.

Trump fixated on his own political fate as virus kills record number of Americans

A day after the United States' coronavirus daily death toll nearly surpassed the number killed in the Sept. 11 attacks, President Donald Trump remained out of sight -- fixated not on the raging pandemic but rather on his own political fate.

The president made no public appearances Friday, a day after the United States recorded 2,879 Americans deaths caused by COVID-19, 217,664 confirmed cases of the virus and over 100,000 hospitalizations -- all records.

Trump has spent his waning days in office not focused on leading the United States through a historic, deadly crisis but rather fundraising for his future political endeavors and sowing doubt in the country's democratic foundations.
