I generally don’t support muting people, but Bandit is really challenging that. He has been shown the facts/reasoning many times and yet refuses to ever stray from his #populist “Fauci bad” stupidity. It seems like either deliberate trolling, or serious cognitive issues at this point.

Did you not realize this about Bandit independent of coronavirus? He's not to be engaged with seriously on any topic.

I really hope they can figure something about before Winter. Hopefully the combination of steroids, hospital practices, social distancing, hand washing, masks, and the significant population that has been infected can stave off some catastrophic numbers.

Door-to-door trick-or-treating will not be allowed in Los Angeles County this Halloween, according to the county's health department. The L.A. County Department of Public Health put out guidance on how to celebrate Halloween safely, saying some of the traditional ways of celebrating do "not allow you to minimize contact with non-household members."

"The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health would like to share information on how to take part in this holiday in a manner that reduces your risk of developing COVID-19," the new guidance reads.

Trick-or-treating at houses is not permitted and neither are "trunk-or-treating" events, in which children go from car to car instead of door to door.

Gatherings and parties with non-household members, as well as carnivals, festivals, live entertainment and haunted house attractions, are also not permitted.

This doesn't surprise me. I'm sure people are looking forward to a joyless and "virtual", or "stay at home" Halloween.

India recording +95,000 cases today.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/india/

From a population of 1.4 Bn people, the cases are only 1/6th of the rate of the US, so the spread is set to continue.

Considering their testing, I am 100% certain they have significantly more cases than what is being seen.

Of course, India has many, many other health problems, including malnutrition, congenital deformities, infertility, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, dengue fever, chicken pox, rabies, cancer, sanitary issues......so coronavirus is just another issue (albeit a serious one) that they have to deal with.

It does seem to point to the dangers of responding to the threat of the virus by locking down too early.    It seems to have been the pattern in a lot of US states as well, especially places like California.

It also sounds like India had pretty strict mask requirements in place, and it is discouraging to me that this would not be more effective.  I also have to imagine the disruption in the Oxford vaccine trial must be especially troubling there, since my impression was India was putting more reliance on that vaccine than the others that are in advanced trials like Moderna and Pfizer (but I could be wrong).

India is a country of 1 billion people, high rates of poverty, consistent outbreaks of preventable disease, and a relatively less educated population with regards to health (in general). I don’t think India, nor any developing country should be locking down as such is futile, and mask mandates can only help so much, especially given the conditions. Comparing India to a US State just doesn’t work.
And yeah, even when we develop a Covid-19 vaccine, the disease will still spread in many of these places, as sad as it is. There is no win situation in a pandemic for any country, but developing countries are in an even worse position.

Since early September, Waukee and Woodbury Central Community School Districts have told teachers to get students up and walking around every 12-14 minutes in order to minimize consecutive time spent next to classmates. The 14-minute limit would allow most students to remain learning in-person even if someone in the classroom tests positive for COVID-19. The Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines state that only those exposed to the virus for 15 consecutive minutes within 6 feet need to quarantine after exposure.

Quote
Headaches, confusion and delirium experienced by some Covid-19 patients could be the result of the coronavirus directly invading the brain, according to a study published Wednesday.

The research is still preliminary -- but offers several new lines of evidence to support what was previously a largely untested theory.

I mean hospitalization numbers can tell a truthful picture. But the pandemic has its ups and downs... it has substantially declined in other countries before only to come back roaring with a vengeance.

So they want us to believe 50% of people who went to Sturgis got covid.

And people wonder why I don't trust the media. As if their 40 years of Big Pharma apologia wasn't enough of a reason.

No...

They are saying that there are a quarter million cases connected to Sturgis. So if you went there, got COVID, came back home and infected people, and then they infected more people, and so on, all of those cases are included in the count, even though only 1 person went to Sturgis, as they presumably wouldn't have happened without the rally.
There have been around 100 cases that have been traced to Sturgis.
