I kinda want to open schools just to spite teacher unions but ik its probably too risky of an idea(by spite teacher unions I mean ones in Oakland that want to limit live online instruction to 2 hours a day)

Putting children and adults at risk of dying to own the libs...

I am willing to compromise students and their families to spite organized labor...

Gotta be one of the worst posts I ever read.

No further stimulus is coming from Congress:

Many Americans are going to experience significant financial distress over the next three months because of Congress' (and Trump's) the Republican Party's inability to act.

Ftfy. Democrats had this sorted months ago, but Republicans were too incompetent and evil to do the easy, necessary thing.

You notice he always talks about testing and cases but never deaths. I guess with the deaths, it is what it is.

I never imagined The United States could have such a poor response to a pandemic, even with Trump at the helm. Like I went back and looked at my posts and I couldn't believe the failure it would take to get the death toll this high.

I'd actually think that as more months pass, the number of excess deaths should be fewer than the number of covid deaths, because such a large percentage of early covid deaths were from nursing homes.  A majority of nursing home residents die within six month of entering the home.  So a large percentage of those who died in March and April from covid would have died a few months later of other causes, and this should result in a deficit in excess deaths during these later months.

There is some evidence that Covid might be pulling deaths forward but no real evidence of increased deaths of despair which was already trending in America and is unrelated to Covid-19.

Unemployment claims ticked back up over the one-million mark:

Wasn't somebody in this thread arguing that the end of supplemental unemployment insurance meant everybody was going to rush out and get a job?

 When will people learn?

We've never seen a President where so many people who worked for him have bad things to say. There is one common denominator if you ever want to bother to pull the wool from over your eyes. Trump is incompetent, dumb, weak, too small in character and petty in persona for the times at hand.

I really hope they can figure something about before Winter. Hopefully the combination of steroids, hospital practices, social distancing, hand washing, masks, and the significant population that has been infected can stave off some catastrophic numbers.

USPS was formulating a plan to begin sending masks to hardest hit areas in April and Trump White House nixed it because they didn't want to cause "panic".

Still a looong way to go for herd immunity.

Fewer than one in ten Americans have antibodies to the virus that causes Covid-19, indicating relatively low rates of immunity to the pathogen that has killed more than 200,000 people in the U.S.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-25/covid-immunity-remains-low-with-under-10-of-u-s-adults-exposed

Why does Trump keep calling it herd mentality?

Why does Trump keep calling it herd mentality?

Maybe because he's exposed to a herd mentality every time he has a rally with his supporters?

But what on Earth is herd mentality?

Merriam-Webster's definition: "The tendency of the people in a group to think and behave in ways that conform with others in the group rather than as individuals."

So what does this have to do with Covid-19?

Ask Trump; he's the one misusing it for "herd immunity".  Although I suppose the widespread opposition to masks and social distancing among Trump's supporters might be considered an indication of herd mentality.

Oh, so The President of The United States was just being a moron during the middle of a pandemic, ok got it.

The President is now being administered a cocktail by Regeneron, an antibody cocktail that is a combination of recovered person's antibody and synthetic antibody Regeneron created. This is not an approved treatment yet so Trump is receiving something that is new but has shown positive results. He is also taking Vitamin D and Zinc and is reported to be fatigued and have a temperature.

Kellyanne Conway has Covid-19 according to her daughter Claudia Conway. Her daughter also said she's been coughing badly for days and complaining her lungs hurt(Don't know if she's exaggerating)
