Didn't Disney say they might continue to require masks at their parks even after a vaccine? I can't find a source, I just remember that.

I haven't heard about this, and hopefully it is not true. I can't wait for the day when masks will finally be gone. Although they've been a necessary measure and have been effective in controlling case growth, they do create a sense of dystopia and dread when going about in public, and are constant, daily reminders of the ongoing pandemic.

The US, and Europe too, will probably have to adapt to wearing masks as East Asia already does.
What I don't care for is the increase in litter that will entail.

What if there is no vaccine? That remains a possibility, although I think it is an unlikely one at this point. The restrictions we are seeing now cannot continue indefinitely.

I think some of our public officials actually would continue them indefinitely - forever if they could. Even if covid is eradicated, I think they'd try to continue some of them. Just because they can.
I mean this unkindly.
Stop with your damn anti-scientist conspiracies.
This isn’t about scientists seeking power.
This isn’t about some large corporation trying to subdue the people.
This isn’t a plot of big-pharma.

This is a goddamn pandemic which has killed hundreds of thousands in the span of half a goddamn year. You need to get the f**k off this board, we have explained the basic facts to you so many times, and yet you insist on shoving your thick skull in the sand.

Public and medical officials aren't your monolithic enemy, Bandit.  We're getting weary of the public restrictions, too, but understand why they're in place.

I also think there will be attempts to outlaw publications that acknowledge the negative effects of lockdowns. But I don't think it will pass.

That would violate the 1st Amendment.

I was perplexed to see that Iowa reported almost 2300 new cases today after averaging 400-500 cases per day consistently for the last two months.

But apparently, Iowa suddenly decided to start counting positive antigen test results as confirmed cases.  Didn't we already thoroughly hash through this issue months ago?  How is this still happening?

Also, a prison in Fort Dodge just reported hundreds (maybe thousands) of cases.

That’s unfortunate. And I’m sorry to hear that.

It doesn’t make the lockdowns justified, though. If you want to do anecdotal, I’m living proof of the damage from social distancing and isolating nonsense.

I'm pretty sure the damage in your case happened long before any lockdown

I do not know why people pile up on me about opposing draconian lock downs when I support greater restrictions compared to most Americans!

Because you say stupid things like this?

Just saying more retail workers have died from anti mask people shooting them down than have people died from covid 19...

A 25-year-old Nevada man appears to be the first documented case of Covid-19 reinfection in the United States, researchers say.

Genetic tests indicate the patient was infected with two different varieties of the virus, the team at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine and the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory reported.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 8/28 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

New - Substituting the Δ Change metric as of 7/13 on dates starting from 7/5:
ΔW Change: Comparisons of Weekly Day-to-day Growth or Decline of COVID-19 Spread/Deaths.
  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE: What's the overall change in the total?

Older Numbers (Hidden in spoiler mode to make the post more compact)

8/16: <Sunday>
  • Cases: 5,566,632 (+36,843 | ΔW Change: ↓25.90% | Σ Increase: ↑0.67%)

Your positions aren’t mine, but aren’t completely unreasonable. The way you present it is.

Here is an analogy: “AHHHHH WHY IS EVERYONE ACTING SO RIDICULOUS OVER SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, MORE TEACHERS DIE FROM LOCKDOWN DRILLS THAN ANYTHING, by the way we should have comprehensive gun reforms to prevent these things. THESE SHOOTINGS ARE BRINGING OUT THE WORST IN PEOPLE YOU ALL ARE VERY SMALL BRAINED AND TRIBAL!!! YOU GUN CONTROL NUTS ARE RUINING OUR COUNTRY!!! WHY AM I BEING CALLED RADICAL?!?!?!”

Remember when I said the Hong Kong reinfection was good news? Well this one isn’t...
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.livescience.com/amp/coronavirus-reinfection-case-confirmed-us.html

What is most concerning is that his symptoms worsened and that we do have a pretty compelling case that this was a true reinfection. Maybe this man is an outlier, but the case is very disturbing. This is very worrisome.

This guy needs to stop reporting Spain covid deaths as though they were real information.

According the to NY Times, Spain reported almost 10,000 new coronavirus cases yesterday.   This is way more on a per capita basis than the US is now reporting.  The reason they are reporting so few deaths is that the country basically just stopped reporting covid deaths several months ago.
