Glad to see some good news on this front for once. Really hope that the fact that there is an end in sight means that people are able to hold off against complacency and fatigue, and keep following public health guidelines until widespread vaccination is available.

HUD Secretary Ben Carson tests positive for coronavirus; aide says he’s in ‘good spirits’
Quote
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson has tested positive for the coronavirus. Carson is the first member of President Trump’s Cabinet known to have tested positive.

The department’s deputy chief of staff, Coalter Baker, said Monday that Carson was “in good spirits and feels fortunate to have access to effective therapeutics which aid and markedly speed his recovery.”

The 69-year-old Carson was among several top Trump administration officials who attended last week’s election night party at the White House.

Good news.  When a vaccine is available, the trick will be trying to convince the population to get it.  So many right wingers are weird.

It's not fun, man, and, as for now, Democrats successfully* politicized vaccine basically spreading conspiracy theories that Trump would somehow force CDC & Pharma to push for risky vaccine... Most notorious examples are Newsom and... Democrat Hero Cuomo, who, ironically and very sadly, killed a lot of Grandmas by sending sick ones back to their retirement homes. This politicizing was, perhaps, the reason of Pfizer's timing.

*successfully
Proof:

https://news.gallup.com/poll/321839/readiness-covid-vaccine-falls-past-month.aspx

And, as always, the victims of Democratic propaganda, regardless if it is about school closure or vaccination are poor and/or minorities...

https://www.ppic.org/wp-content/uploads/ppic-statewide-survey-californians-and-their-government-october-2020.pdf
Quote
At least half of Californians across party lines say they would either definitely or probably get a COVID19 vaccine if one were available today: 56 percent of both Democrats and independents and 50 percent of Republicans. Across racial/ethnic groups, there are sharp differences: 70 percent of Asian Americans, 62 percent of whites, and 54 percent of Latinos say they would definitely or probably get a vaccine if available today, with 29 percent of African Americans saying definitely or probably.

California only, but I think, there is the same pattern across the US.

With that said, Dems will 100% change the tone now, because, obviously, they spread dangerous conspiracy theories to harm Trump, and won, so they don't need to do it any longer. But I really f**king afraid, that part of this damage is irreversible. Some AA families will unfortunately abstain from vaccination because of that, because of the Democratic propaganda.

The same has already happened to the schools. Some people are afraid of sending their kids back to schools, despite science saying it is not more dangerous that other activities and that this is vital to kids' future. The consequences of Democratic racist dangerous propaganda amplified by media is real and it is happening as we speak.

The reluctance some people have toward trusting this administration with guaranteeing the safety of a vaccine can be traced directly to Trump's pushing of hydroxychloroquine despite the fact that there was no evidence that it helps, as well as the whole fiasco of suggesting treating people with disinfectants - or "injecting bleach" as it became known in the popular shorthand. You can't unring the bell of crossing into such blatant medical quackery, and this is why he never should have been on television pretending to give out medical advice. If he had just shut his stupid mouth and let the medical experts lead, there wouldn't be major fears about the vaccine.

We should be locking down in many areas again, sadly it seems like many governors are just going to let covid burn out which will result in many uneeded deaths.

Previously covid was in certain regions of the country, health care resources could flow into those areas especially things like travelling nurses and respiratory therapists but now the needs are so widespread I fear hospitals are going to begin to break.

It will be hilarious if the vaccine takes off right after Biden gets inaugurated.

It would be a lot like the Iran hostage crisis being resolved right after Reagan was sworn in.

Just saw that Fauci said that he expects most people that want to get vaccinated will be able to do so within the first four months of 2021, so I expect this to be the case.

1) It is still a conspiracy to think that Trump would somehow get CDS & Big Pharma to approve a vaccine they otherwise wouldn't. I hope you agree?
2) Democrats could easily dispel this conspiracy theories or "fears" as you put it. They didn't. It was more like they riding the conspiracy/fears wave.
2) As you see, Blacks are waaaay more likely to restrain from taking a vaccine despite being most vulnerable demographics. They also happen to trust Dem Party more than others. See the pattern here? Among Asians 70% would take vs 29 among Blacks! Asians ar not "fearful".

Very hilarious, indeed. Besides the fact that the sooner people get vaccinated, the more will be saved. But Orange Bad would get mad!

No, it's not conspiratorial! It's entirely in character with what this administration has regularly done in trying to strongarm corporate interests to give them political favors!

Now look, I think it's clear by now that such corrupt strongarm tactics have been unsuccessful, and that the pharmaceutical companies have taken their responsibilities seriously and have mostly ignored Trump, but it was absolutely reasonable to have those concerns when Trump first started to explicitly link the vaccine timeline to the election.

Eh, US loves conspiracy theories.

Even if we pretend that Trump would to try to "force" them all, CDC, FDA and Big Pharma would leak like a hell. 99,9% people working there actually wants to help people, not hurt them. How could one even think otherwise?

Obviously, Democrats know that, but are willing to explode people's fear of Trump Orange Bad. It will end ugly for those who won't vaccine because of that (probably small, but not insignificant share of low-educated poor minorities).

I want it to be available as soon as safely possible, never said otherwise, but it looks like that’s gonna be shortly after Biden is sworn in. I’m just commenting on the irony of that.

Also by your own logic, wouldn’t more people trust it and therefore take it during the Biden administration (thanks of course to us horrible Dems, and not at all due to the fact that Trump has lied thousands of times and botched everything about this virus, making him untrustworthy in the extreme), thus more lives would be saved, thus it might actually if anything be wrong to want it earlier?

ALSO imagine still “ironically” saying “orange man bad” at this point, when you’d have to be certifiably crazy to think this fascist f—k who’s trying to destroy centuries of democratic transfer of power, is NOT “bad.”

I know I keep repeating myself but my god these numbers are horrifying. We're going to be over 11 million cases nationally by the end of the week at this rate. That's over a million and a half new cases in two weeks. If even 5% of those cases require hospitalization - an optimistic number that is less than a quarter of what the rate was during the first wave, but *maybe* reasonable given how many mild cases were being missed in the first wave due to insufficient testing at that time - that's 75,000 new hospital patients, and that number is only going to grow as the new daily case numbers continue to increase. I find it hard to believe we're going to have anywhere near the excess capacity to deal with this surge in hospitalizations, especially not in rural states where the hospital systems were already strained and often underfunded even before the pandemic, and where the pandemic is spreading most rapidly on a per capita basis at the moment.

An end to this is genuinely in sight, based on how the vaccines are progressing, but it is going to be such an unbelievably awful winter before we get to that end.

That was a while ago. But yeah, it's one of those things like Nixon telling South Vietnam to walk out of the peace talks that must have been written of as a crazy conspiracy theory until it was proven.

But it just proves my point, doesn't it? Because of the things like that, Democrats should be more cautious, not less, because it will disproportionally affect Black due to Tuskegee for example. As far as I know there is no evidence whatsoever that CDC/FDA/Big Pharma did anything they should't have done.

So much less than among (D) Cuomo's retirement homes?

Pretty clear it is because of higher share of elderly people in this particular prison.

They did used to call typhus "gaol fever", so in a way this is sadly not surprising.
