Gonna be fun when the networks insta-call this for Newsom and the right freaks out.

Gavin Newsom is Gray Davis even if Cox wins he has to deal with a Supermajority D State Legislature, so it won't make a dines worth of difference, Newsom has to get 50% or he is recalled

It won't be a blowout 20 pt Newsom lead

That's why I might vote to recall Newsom, if he loses Steyer would run against Cox in 2022

Orange suburbs aren't D always

You’d vote for a Republican governor now to maybe get a different Democrat later? One who probably wouldn’t even run?

The Gov whom wins the recall has to run in 2022 anyways, there's nothing Cox can do with a D Supermajority legislature anyways.

Yes, if Cox is Gov Steyer or Villigosa will run against him in 2022

It's secret ballot anyways, I can vote for whom I want and Newsom isn't winning by 20, more like 5

Two recent nuggets involving John Cox

From a Times of San Diego interview released yesterday:

Q: Do you support or oppose Rep. Mike Levin’s bill to permanently ban new oil and gas leases off the Southern California coastline? Why or why not? What current state rules would you lift, if in the state’s power?

Cox: "California could be the Saudi Arabia of the West. And we should be. We should explore oil and gas safely. We should also produce more natural gas. California could be fueling our country. It would make California more prosperous and our country more safe."

and this tweet regarding his campaign funds:

@rpyers: "Between Cox's 2021 and 2022 committees, he has now reported raising a combined total of $7.75 million, around $670K of that total coming from individuals not named John Cox."

Cox is the underdog, but he can do nothing with a D Supermajority legislature but if Newsom loses, Cox is up for reelection in Nov, 2022 and would be an underdog to any D

Cox, said he will work with D's to get jobs, I am still undecided about the Recall, this isn't a Prez race and it's secret ballot

But, he is tied with Newsom 45%

Newsom is Gray Davis, he is still the Favor but it will be 51(46% against the recall not a 20 pt

The problem for Cox is McCarthy in Bakersfield whom is beholden to TRUMP

There isn't a dimes worth of difference between Fix and Mccarthy bought and payed for by TRUMP

This is looking like it's going to be another embarrassing defeat for the CA GOP.

Newsom is gaining momentum again, it's over for Cox, obviously he is another Kevin Mccarthy

Both of them look the same, Tom Steyer for 2026

When can be expect a date for the recall set? As far as I know, the lieutenant governor has to make that decision within a certain framework.

I think she could potentially make it today. Today is when the final total of accepted signatures is confirmed, after the month window for signatories to voluntarily withdrawal their signature, and the legislature has fast-tracked appropriations through the state budget process. However, it probably won't be precisely today, likely very soon though.

Apparently the Dems are thinking about a early September vote. While it would reduce turnout compared to November, it would better capitalize on any pandemic goodwill, while also giving less time for the election to radically change.

Although a mid-September vote is becoming a distinctly likelier possibility, given that the county clerks have now been unable to guarantee enough paper to literally just print the ballots on if L.G. Kounalakis decides to hold it before then.

I will gladly risk this being placed in the exquisitely age thread by constantly stating this early on that Newsome will handedly Survive recall. The French Laundry thing was gross - - even though technically the county it was in was only green as opposed to red or purple regarding mask restrictions- - but that's a real questionable basis on which to recall and otherwise rather successful governor who handled covid fairly effectively, albeit of course hardly perfectly.

The primary Challengers to Newsom are going to be the usual cast of butthurt Republicans who are just mystified why their brand doesn't sell to increasingly diverse, young, educated, and prosperous state. California voters have simply no interest in that.
