It really is in one ear and out the other for the anti trans crowd. You can keep saying that surgery isn’t a required to be trans, that little kids aren’t getting surgery, that it’s well documented that hormone treatment isn’t dangerous and isn’t anything like surgery, that the notion most trans people are faking it from peer pressure is absurd with no evidence, and that there are numerous examples of trans athletes not having an unfair advantage in sports until you are blue in the face but they don’t care. They have their talking points and will not change them not matter what

He’s not stupid, and I think he knows deep down that nothing that he’s saying is factually correct. This is an excellent example as to why the public square is at a red hot boil these days. Both sides want to make as extreme as possible the agenda of the other side, and at this point I suspect that is not entirely due to seeking political advantage, but almost a psychological necessity. I've noticed an uptick in borderline or outright eliminationist rhetoric regarding trans people from the right in recent days. (Just saw an article from a Daily Wire commenter earlier claiming that having a trans kid is akin to having a dead kid.)

Let me make it clear, as someone who has frequently commented on this site when it comes to these issues in ways that aren't always popular: If it comes down to the left proposing things about sex and gender which I am uncomfortable with and have reservations about vs. the right proposing s--t like this? I will side with the left every time. There is a reason I am still a Democrat, and always will be for the foreseeable future. The left does things that make me roll my eyes at times. The right does things that make me fear for the future of the country, humanity, and the planet all the time. There isn't even a comparison.
