Since this thread is engaged in the whole trans panic thing, I’m curious as to how many people here actually have interactions with trans people. I don’t mean casting arguments over the internet, but actual in person positive social interactions.

I have a non-binary friend I talk to pretty regularly (maybe once every couple of weeks), but in terms of trans people, very rarely. A couple Facebook friends, but nobody I see regularly irl.

That would’ve been smart yea. A lot of people on this forum have very uh.. “strong” opinions on trans issues, which I doubt any trans person not named Caitlyn Jenner hold, so I was curious if people on this forum know the people they’re ranting about.

I have a few trans people in my extended social circle, but no one who I interact with as frequently as weekly, so I said monthly. Of course there might be passing trans people at work in particular who I don't know about (not aware of any trans people at work, actually).

I'm not counting non-binary identification for this purpose.

Who knows? Nowhere near 1/200 people I see out in public are visibly trans or even look like they could be, which implies that most of them are passing unnoticed.

I honestly can't think of a single trans person I have interacted with knowing they are trans. By the statistics I guess it must happen but my guess is probably rarely.

Rarely, I don't know anyone who is trans in my overall circle of friends and I know for a fact that no one in my family identifies as being trans.
