Yes, Republicans are discussing genocide against LGBTQ+ people
Quote
Things appear dire for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States, especially when it comes to transgender and non-binary folks— who have found themselves a current primary target of a well-oiled right-wing hate machine fueled by Republican politics. After recently meeting with anti-LGBTQ+ ideologue Chaya Raichik (AKA Libs of TikTok, a major proponent of the “grooming” anti-trans narrative), Donald Trump, the de-facto leader of the MAGA far-right movement and the Republican Party— has followed the trend of genocidal rhetoric against LGBTQ+ people, laying out an apocalyptic vision if he wins in 2024.
Quote
“Transgender people are now increasingly targets of discriminatory legislation and hate,” writes the Museum of Jewish Heritage, a Holocaust museum in New York. “Before 1933, Germany was a center of LGBTQ+ community and culture, with several renowned organizations serving and supporting trans and gender non-conforming people. Hitler’s Nazi government, however, brutally targeted the trans community, deporting many trans people to concentration camps and wiping out vibrant community structures.”

What republicans have passed in red states is to the left of what existed in those states prior to 2015 . This is extreme sensationalism which is very typical of USGD now days

...

Texas was literally separating children from their parents and and labeling the parents as child abusers if the child or the parent happened to be trans this decade. They were not doing this in 2015 or any other year.

I'm looking for evidence that 100.7% of the Republicans in the US are openly advocating the mass murder of LGBTQ people.

Of course, this is a runeghost thread, so I'm sure all we will see is a demagogic headline and no supporting information, so I'll have to wait forever.

In this case, the poster is a mere conduit for some anonymous writer at Daily Kos. It is a just another straw in the wind that the public square badly needs a therapy dog.

There were people who said that concern over Trump was exaggerated and that he would moderate himself and be more sensible than Hillary Clinton. We see how that turned out. Underestimating how far Republicans will go has proven unwise in the past and it is unwise now. Some of the more extreme people they are taking orders from a quite bloodthirsty even if they don't say it. Dehumanizing rhetoric is always a red flag for true intentions are.

The author's name is Vishal Singh. He's linked at the start of his article.

As for those who think it's an overreaction - very similar reassurances were made about abortion access only a few years ago.

1. I don't think you know what you are, but you are certainly backing up conservative principles and rhetoric.
2. It doesn't matter what you support, the point was about who is really carrying about violence.

You can cry strawman all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the far-right uses exaggerated rhetoric and fairly isolated examples to accuse entire groups of people of terrible things. You did that by saying that gay people want to kill JK Rowling and expose themselves to people.

JK Rowling certainly received death threats for her statements on transgender issues, and there is a whole thread full of people on this site who are currently advocating for penises in women's locker rooms, so I'm not sure where this feigned confusion is coming from.

Lots of people get death threats, but it doesn't mean whole groups of people should be blamed. Some of those threats are probably from straight people who disagree with her stance, but no one would blanket all straight people as making threats. And opinions voiced in one thread on a message board doesn't means all transgender people are rapists and flashers.

I didn't say they should be!

I didn't suggest otherwise!

Deeply disappointing that you're still so incapable of engaging with the basic point someone is making. Do better!

Look just because the top two candidates for the Republican presidential nom are advised by someone who openly advocates violence against gay and trans people, states like Texas make being a transgender kid a crime that parents could get arrested for, and republican politicians up and down the line call trans people pedos and giving out locations of where they live to hate groups doesn’t mean they want to hurt gay and trans people. God you people are so over dramatic

None of what you stated is valid reasoning for any of the legislation and policy Republicans have been pushing. That is what the thread is about.

To deny that the killing of transgender people is the goal of many in the Republican Party is to either live in ignorance or to deliberately lie.

This thread is about an agenda-driven "news" site elevating the deranged ramblings of Christian fundamentalist loons in order to justify wild conjectures about a fictional imminent genocide of gay people. It's blatant fearmongering. You won't see me or anyone else on this site defending the comments referenced in this article. What you will see, however, is people mocking the manipulative sensationalism this type of article represents. Do you get it now?

Honestly one the most weird ass dynamic in politics today is how some of the most hostile figures to trans people come from the smug atheist community think guys like Bill Maher, Richard Dawkins, or Dule here. The weirdest part is they’ll condense to religious people for holding these anti scientific views but they themselves will advocate some of the most anti scientific stances on the trans/gender topic

Atheists don't generally believe in things that don't exist, you see.

This is exactly what I mean, transgender being “not real” is about as unsupported of a stance by the scientific consensus of that field as one could get

You can criticize Reagan’s reaction to AIDS/Republican’s reaction to COVID, but the point is that just as the Republican’s reaction to COVID was not motivated by hatred, neither was Reagan’s reaction to AIDS.

The fundamentalists have a lot more influence than a lot of people want to admit. When you have gender affirming care being banned in some states, parents of trans parents being accused of child abuse and gay and transgender people being called predators then you are setting up an environment that is dangerous to LGBTQ+ people. Maybe gas ovens aren't on the horizon, but that doesn't mean LGBTQ+ aren't being harmed by laws that overreach and nutcases who actually will resort to violence.
