Democrats should have taken away that SOBs chairmanship after he blocked the public option.  Or at least threatened to cut off aid to his beloved Israel if he didn’t vote for it.

Reid should have thrown him out of the caucus after they voted on Obamacare (not before because they still needed Lieberman's vote)

Connecticut should pay the rest of the country restitution for unleashing Joe Lieberman upon us and for all the damage he's caused this nation.

Does anyone in Maine in 2020 actually care about Joe Lieberman?

This is another interesting article about Susan Collins' predicament: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/09/maine-turned-on-susan-collins.html. As with the Politico article that I posted before, this article examines why Collins' approval ratings have collapsed to the extent they have, and how many Democratic and independent voters who had supported her in her previous races now detest her, and want her out.

Democratic activism in Maine seems to have increased substantially over the past three years, and Collins' tax vote, her vote to confirm Kavanaugh, and her vote to acquit Trump are identified as the three main factors which have destroyed her popularity. They also interviewed Shenna Bellows, Collins' 2014 opponent, who lost to her by a 2-1 margin last time, and who seems to be heartened by how Maine's voters have "been awakened" to Collins' true character.

Great ad from the Gideon campaign:

Has Susan Collins had anything to say about Trump's admission? Or has she said that she is "deeply concerned", maybe even "very troubled" over them? Collins' comments about Trump "learning his lesson" have truly come back to bite her in the behind.

This is a few days old, but the thread didn't catch it. Important when it comes to RCV to ensure your voters don't leave potential second or third choices blank, since since you can still get some of what you want. In SF local politics some RCV candidates campaign with other candidates they endorse, with a message of "make us your 1 and 2, we don't care about the order."

A pretty good move on Savage's part. Obviously, she knows that she won't win, and thus is trying to make sure that her voters support Gideon where it truly counts. According to the latest poll from Maine, Gideon is leading Collins 45-44%, with Savage garnering 6%. If all of Savage's voters go to Gideon, that would give her a 51% majority, which would obviously be enough. I highly doubt that Collins will be able to garner the majority of that vote.

The first Senate debate just ended. Whoever debate prepped with Gideon needs to get fired. None of her attacks on Collins landed (unfortunately). She let Collins run right over her and get away with untruths all over the place. It's sad when the independent Lisa Savage who hasn't been in politics is more coherent and on point. Max Linn was a joke and kept hawking different websites he created but even he landed a couple of jabs at Collins that landed better than anything Gideon did. What a mess...

Hopefully Collins doesn't get much of a bounce from this.

How many people do you expect watched the debate? Since you live in Maine full-time, you might know that better than me.

I didn't see where that debate would really impact voters either way because it was pretty standard.

Collins literally couldn't even answer about supporting Trump or not. How is that good for Collins?

Collins was prepared for it, didn't miss a beat, and said Mainers didn't need her advice on who to vote for for president. Whether you agree or not (and she was clearly dodging), most people in the middle who are making up their minds would see that as a reasonable answer. Later in the debate, Collins asked Gideon if she would have supported Justice Roberts, and Gideon literally stumbled and looked like a blubbering mess. It wasn't a good look.

Yeah, it sounds like you're giving way too much credit to Collins here. Her dodging and and saying Mainers don't need advice is not a good answer either. Gideon dodged, but it was bad, but Collins dodged and it was fine? I don't think most people in the middle would be okay with Collins dodging but Gideon dodging on a much more irrelevant question.

If Collins wins, I'll blame the DSCC. They propped up a horrible debater. Hopefully this doesn't matter, because the most important issue in this election is the 200,000 corpses who drowned in their own bodily fluids under Trump's watch.
