Holy crap these people on twitter are dangerously stupid! Fauci is apparently part of the "Deep State" according to Trump supporters on Twitter.

How is conservatism not classifiable as a mental health crisis at this point?

What on Earth is "Truth Freedom Health"?

Also, of course they pander to the antivaxers: "Dr. Fauci has significant and deep conflicts of interest with Big Pharma that has a singular aim: Force medical mandates e.g. vaccines upon all Americans. Big Pharma is failing, and is in economic peril. Forced and mandated vaccines are the only path for Big Pharma’s future."

The Homeless in NYC are taking shelter in the Metro stations

If only they could get temporary housing where they could be accommodated and accountable for.
To be fair, the homeless taking shelter in Subway stations isn't a new thing. Especially during winter, since underground stations are warmer than on street level.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/lysol-manufacturer-warns-against-internal-use-after-trump-comments-n1191586?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma

"WASHINGTON — The manufacturer of Lysol, a disinfectant spray and cleaning product, and the EPA both issued statements warning against any internal use after President Donald Trump suggested that people could get an "injection" of "the disinfectant that knocks (coronavirus) out in a minute."

"As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route)," said a spokesperson for Reckitt Benckiser, the United Kingdom-based owner of Lysol, in a statement to NBC News."

Dubya got a bad rap. This guy is obviously the dumbest President in US history.
With Dubya, there were some speaking slip-ups, but Trump is making them US policy.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
He was also considered by some as "weak" or "easily swayed" with the influence of people in his administration (particularly Cheney). Which was true to a point. He didn't truly start making foreign policy decisions on his own initiative until his second term. But Bush was by no means stupid.

a) Trump's probably lying and making up excuses for his behavior,

b) if Trump's not lying the question is whether a global pandemic is really the right time for the President of the United States to troll the press, instead of acting, um, presidential.
He uses the "I was only saying [whatever outrageous/racist/idiotic thing] to troll the media" all the time. Not that it's effective, or even a somewhat valid excuse during a pandemic that has hhmmm...let me see...killed 50,000 Americans so far.

Grandpa forgot to take his meds again

Duh, everyone knows that Obama has a time machine.  That's how he inserted his birth announcements in the Honolulu newspapers.
Yeah, you got 'em Rudy! It's not like Trump was elected in 2016.....oh wait...

Poll: Cost makes nearly 1 in 10 leery of seeking COVID care
Quote
As states gear up to reopen, a poll finds a potential obstacle to controlling the coronavirus: nearly 1 in 10 adults say cost would keep them from seeking help if they thought they were infected.

The Gallup-West Health Healthcare Costs Survey out Tuesday finds that 9% of those age 18 and over would avoid seeking treatment because of concerns about the cost of care, even if they thought they were infected with the coronavirus.

A significantly higher number, 14%, would avoid seeking treatment because of pocketbook worries if they had fever and a dry cough, two widely publicized symptoms of COVID-19.
About a week ago, maybe closer to two weeks...the days blend together when you're self quarantining, a doctor in Seattle being interviewed by NPR stated that her hospital was getting the same number of COVID-19 patients as when the outbreak hit the PNW hard in late February and NPR previously interviewed her. But, the new patients coming in were much sicker than those in February. I immediately sensed the implication that the new patients were mostly people who had become infected and hoped they could "get over it" without going to the hospital due to the high financial costs of doing so. Thus, they were more ill once they finally went to the hospital.

Kushner calls US coronavirus response a "great success story."

President Donald Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, praised the administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic as a "great success story" on Wednesday -- less than a day after the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States topped 1 million.

Kushner painted a rosy picture for "Fox and Friends" Wednesday morning, saying that "the federal government rose to the challenge and this is a great success story and I think that that's really what needs to be told."

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/29/politics/jared-kushner-coronavirus-success-story/index.html
There's no way can actually believe this. That's the thing I dislike most about Kushner, Trump is delusional enough to actually believe it's been "a great success story", while Kushner always looks exactly like someone who knows he's lying through his teeth. Then he tries to compensate by acting like a pretentious rich child whenever he's asked about his lies by reporters.

Quite the example of incompetence in this ProPublica article about some dude with no experience flying around the country after getting a VA contract to buy N95 masks for VA workers.....and failing miserably.

https://www.propublica.org/article/how-profit-and-incompetence-delayed-n95-masks-while-people-died-at-the-va

"It remains a mystery why the CEO of Federal Government Experts LLC let me observe his frantic effort to find 6 million N95 respirators and the ultimate unraveling of his $34.5 million deal to supply them to the Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals, where 20 VA staff have died of COVID-19 while the agency waits for masks.

It’s also unclear why the VA gave Stewart’s fledgling business — which had no experience selling medical equipment, no supply chain expertise and very little credit — an important contract. Or why the VA agreed to pay nearly $5.75 per mask, a 350% markup from the manufacturer’s list price. In the end, after ProPublica asked questions about the deal this week, the VA quickly terminated it and referred the case to its inspector general for investigation."

Interesting that the OAN anchor has a Russian accent. Do we know if OAN has any Russian ties? I wonder if OAN is another attempt at spreading Russian propaganda, after RT was pretty much a failure.

Run the front page about the 40 million displaced American workers, and the extra hundreds of thousands who will die from deaths of despair, while at the same time casting a successive lost generation to dumbass economic policies. Yeah, I’ll continue to wait.

Anyone who is affluent and/or under the age of 20 cannot possibly understand the severe economic ramifications we now face. The irony is, those under 20 will be the most negatively affected by this in the decade to come.
This is probably one of the most tone deaf posts I've seen in a while.

Supposedly that place has a capacity of 3,000. That's half of what showed up in Tulsa. Yet it looks  more impressive having a smaller full house instead of a larger, but only enough to fill 1/3 of the venue, crowd.

The updated numbers for COVID-19 in the U.S. are in for 7/25 per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm keeping track of these updates daily and updating at the end of the day, whenever all states finish reporting for that day.

New - Substituting the Δ Change metric as of 7/13 on dates starting from 7/5:
ΔW Change: Comparisons of Weekly Day-to-day Growth or Decline of COVID-19 Spread/Deaths.
  • IE: Comparing the numbers to the same day of last week, are we flattening the curve enough?

Σ Increase: A day's contribution to overall percentage growth of COVID-19 cases/deaths.
  • IE: What's the overall change in the total?

Older Numbers (Hidden in spoiler mode to make the post more compact)

7/12: <Sunday>
  • Cases: 3,413,995 (+58,349 | ΔW Change: ↑23.73% | Σ Increase: ↑1.74%)

  • Deaths: 149,395 (+905 | ΔW Change: ↑11.32% | Σ Increase: ↑0.61%)
It looks like we'll hit 150k tomorrow, though with Sunday's consistently lower death count, maybe it will be Monday.

Meet the Trump's favorite new doctor

https://www.thedailybeast.com/stella-immanuel-trumps-new-covid-doctor-believes-in-alien-dna-demon-sperm-and-hydroxychloroquine?source=articles&via=rss

Quote
A Houston doctor who praises hydroxychloroquine and says that face masks aren’t necessary to stop transmission of the highly contagious coronavirus has become a star on the right-wing internet, garnering tens of millions of views on Facebook on Monday alone. Donald Trump Jr. declared the video of Stella Immanuel a “must watch,” while Donald Trump himself retweeted the video.

Before Trump and his supporters embrace Immanuel’s medical expertise, though, they should consider other medical claims Immanuel has made—including those about alien DNA and the physical effects of having sex with witches and demons in your dreams.

Could be the new head of the CDC
Holy yikes:

"Immanuel, a pediatrician and a religious minister, has a history of making bizarre claims about medical topics and other issues. She has often claimed that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches.

She alleges alien DNA is currently used in medical treatments, and that scientists are cooking up a vaccine to prevent people from being religious. And, despite appearing in Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on Monday, she has said that the government is run in part not by humans but by “reptilians” and other aliens."

"Immanuel is a registered physician in Texas, according to a Texas Medical Board database, and operates a medical clinic out of a strip mall next to her church, Firepower Ministries.

Immanuel was born in Cameroon and received her medical degree in Nigeria."

"In the sermon, Immanuel preserved special vitriol for the Magic 8-Ball, a toy that can be shaken up to “reveal” any answer. Immanuel claims the otherwise innocuous Magic 8-Ball was in fact a scheme to get children used to witchcraft.

“The 8-Ball was a psychic,” she said. "
