Wouldn’t it be something if:

1. Ossoff and Warnock win
2. The GOP repeals the runoff rule
3. A Democrat beats Kemp in 2022 with 49%

If Ossoff beats Perdue, I already have my response to "but Perdue got more votes in the first round!!! So unfair and undemocratic!!!!" prepared:

"I agree, Mary Landrieu must be seated now."

I am saying it right now: If either Ossoff or Warnock wins, I'll leave the forum for 1 solid year.

Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
You're not supposed to jinx it lol.

The runoff system is in the state constitution, right? They would need Democratic votes I think to make the change.

Runoffs are not in the state constitution, but general state law. The only part of the constitution that mentions runoff elections is Article II, Sec. II, Paragraph II, and it only defines what a runoff is, not providing what offices shall be subject to a runoff:

Quote
Paragraph II.  Run-off election.  A run-off election shall be a continuation of the general election and only persons who were entitled to vote in the general election shall be  entitled  to  vote  therein;  and  only  those  votes  cast  for  the  persons  designated  for  the  runoff shall be counted in the tabulation and canvass of the votes cast.

After 92 senate loss, the GA Dems only made the runoffs necessary only if neither candidate got 45%, but in 2005 the GA republicans changed it back to 50%.

It's come back to bite them

Is Cherokee County rural? I was under the impression it was mostly suburban.

I was on the phone hustling last minute to make sure everyone I know votes and got three family members to commit to vote tomorrow:

One registered in 2018, but has never voted.
The other voted in 2016 and that's it.
One has only voted in presidentials and never in a runoff.

If we win tomorrow, it is going to be so overwhelming.

Nice! What convinced them now?
Just asking them to vote. Full transparency, they are young adults who are very transient when it comes to housing. There's no way that they have ever been canvassed or been in a position to think about an election that intently.

ETA: I told them a few reasons why I'm supporting, but they were mostly sold on the $2k checks and that Ossoff/Warnock are anti-Trump lol.

Obligatory followup...

Did any of them vote tho!!’
2 out of 3 sent me selfies with their stickers. Chasing down the other.

It's outer suburban/exurban.  But it's been a Republican stronghold for a long time.

Houston isn't really rural, either. It's small-city.

Notably, GA-11 did go from 60/35 Trump to 57/42 this year.

The anecdotal turnout reports (for whatever they're worth) are all pretty good for the Rs now. Earlier this morning they were pretty mixed.

Cherokee did swing left, but that shift was driven mostly by the Cobb and Fulton parts of the district.

My partner and daughter have been last-minute phone banking and have, combined, spoken to three Ossoff/Loeffler voters. One did so because he wants "younger leaders" and "doesn't vote for old people anymore." The other two did not specify.

But no Purdue/Warnock voters I take it?

Dekalb County?

the highest turnout is in the Republican corner (Dunwoody) which follows what's happening statewide

Not to be a doomer, but those numbers aren't particularly GREAT for us (Dems).

That said, early exit polls leaned way right on election day before making a sharp correction.
