I got a booster shot yesterday.  Feeling kind of achy today but not as bad as my second dose (all three were Pfizer).

Just got my booster of moderna (switched from pfizer) and the flu shot. Some studies have shown the flu shoot boosts immune response indirectly.

Now off to peru in January.

Interesting. I got my flu shot a couple weeks ago. Decided against doing them both at once.

Very sorry to hear this.  You have my condolences, and I'm sure those of the rest of the forum.

Well, my cousin, her husband, and her daughter all now have COVID. Her husband got it first and got hit hard, but has since turned a corner after getting monoclonal antibody treatment. Fortunately my cousin and her daughter both have more mild cases, at least for now. I'm not super close with this cousin, but I'm closer with her sister who has been relaying this info, but apparently none of them were vaccinated, so we're not super thrilled that my (much more high risk) aunt and her (anti-vax) husband have now also been exposed, but fortunately, they haven't been showing any symptoms. According to my other cousin, her excuse was that she "has a lot of allergies" and didn't want to risk any side effects, but she doesn't seem to have talked to her doctor about any of this to see whether any of her allergies would actually make for any issues. I'm not sure what her husband or daughter's reasons were for not getting vaccinated, although her daughter would have only become eligible very recently, if at all, since I think she's around 5 years old.

It is impossible to over-emphasize how much vaccinations not only protect yourself, but all those around you.

You're absolutely right. If only my father had gotten vaccinated. The vaccine is a life-safer, and I've expressed my frustration before that so many people haven't taken advantage of it. Now that I've been affected by it personally, I'm even more in favor of it than I was before.

Why can't incompetent Biden's admin just hire Gottlieb and make him public face of the current strategy (not that Biden have some)?

My father is now among the 700,000+ victims of this pernicious and evil disease in this country....

With deepest sympathy, may you have comfort and peace during this time of great loss.

It's never easy to hear news about a parent getting infected with this virus. In August of this year my mother had gotten Covid pneumonia, but thankfully she was able to make a strong recovery.

I like to believe that when we lose someone close to us, like a Father, they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we’ve lost makes them a part of us.

Pfizer signs license agreement to allow broader global access to its experimental Covid-19 antiviral pill

Quote
Pfizer said Tuesday it signed a licensing agreement to allow broader global access to its experimental Covid-19 pill.

The agreement with the Medicines Patent Pool, a United Nations-backed public health organization, would allow generic manufacturers to make the pill widely available in 95 low- and middle-income countries covering 53% of the world's population, the company said.

The pill, known as PF-07321332 or Paxlovid, is to be given in combination with an older antiviral drug called ritonavir.

...

"Pfizer will not receive royalties on sales in low-income countries and will further waive royalties on sales in all countries covered by the agreement while COVID-19 remains classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization," Pfizer said in the statement.

That is correct. My stepmother and I are both fully vaccinated, and I'm getting my booster shot on Thursday. However, he was unvaccinated, refused to get the vaccine, and did not trust it. He tried to get a medical exemption, but that was rejected by his doctors, who urged him to get it. He then tried to obtain a religious exemption.

We just had two people at work leave because they did not want to get vaccinated.

Don't tell anyone but.......I am kind of glad. Laziest scientists I have ever seen.

Why can't we get more geologists from Norway?
