Today just had by far the most tests of any day so far. Yet still, Worldometers may show only about 17,000 new cases today, if that. Percentage of positive cases tumbled to about 4.5% today.

It was still a good day, but the testing number was increased because New Jersey dumped a bunch of backlogged negative tests.

If you knock 100,000 off the number of tests, it's still by far the best day since March.

The petulant narcissist just can't handle women asking him smart questions, ran away like a coward.

It also looks as if the reporter he told to ask China is Asian American? So her trying to get him to answer why he told her that specifically is a very important question.
Yes, it was Weijia Jiang. she works for CBS and was raised in WV.

Ah, brilliant PR, Mr. President!

I hate to say it, but I see nothing racist about his statement. He called it the "Chinese virus" multiple times, so whether he says it to a White, Black or Asian person makes no difference. His views on this being somehow "Chinese" is dumb, there's no other way around it, but I don't believe him saying that to an Asian American is any worse than him saying it to anyone else.

The man has made so many dumb statements and introduced so many ineffective policies that attacking him for this is just overshadows his real flaws.

Or in the words of Morgan Freeman: "Stop talking about it."

Ehhh... I'd be very cautious comparing positive test results across a span of two months. Pretty good odds that the March test results were a self-selected sample that's more likely to test positive (e.g., because they were exhibiting symptoms), i.e., not a random sample. Tests now are more likely to resemble a random sample.

Latest graphs comparing European vs. American cases and deaths.

Note that the way I'm calculating the 5-day weights on Mondays makes today's numbers look better than they actually will shake out to be.  But we have seen consistent declines in deaths across Europe of around 25% per week for almost a month now.  This week was also perhaps the first time week we saw sustained declines in American deaths, maybe around 10% per week.

I wear a mask when going to the transaction windows of fast-food places.  If people taking the cash or handing you fast food are wearing masks, then so should you.

Speaking of masks again, I noticed yet another increase in the number of customers not wearing masks at my job today. He argued and yelled at her in a press conference 2 or 3 weeks ago as well.

So you don't get accused of parroting false information from the conservative posters, can you post the video where he yells at her 2-3 weeks ago.

I have not seen him yell at any reporters.

Yes she is Asian American. It's Weijia Jiang from CBS news.
He's always like this to her. He argued and yelled at her in a press conference 2 or 3 weeks ago as well.
This man is nothing but human scum and the sooner we get rid of him and this administration, the better.

He is an absolute jacka$$.
And then people wonder why  Asian-Americans are experiencing an increase a bigoted comments towards them. When you have the President doing things like this, it does not help.
But, yes I see from the video, that the Orange Buffoon retreated like a coward, because it got to hot in the kitchen, and he couldnt handle it.

You're right, not yell at, but berate and insult for doing her job while asking "Who are you with?" as if it matters. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/04/20/trump-confronts-reporter-weijia-jiang-coronavirus-briefing/5163639002/

The coronavirus has reached the heartland:

Unreleased White House report shows coronavirus rates spiking in heartland communities
Trump's claim that cases are falling everywhere is contradicted by his own task force's report, obtained by NBC News, showing the virus spreading far from the coasts.

I wear a mask when going to the transaction windows of fast-food places.  If people taking the cash or handing you fast food are wearing masks, then so should you.

Speaking of masks again, I noticed yet another increase in the number of customers not wearing masks at my job today. The majority still are, but the persistent minority-as I call them-has now risen to around 40% of all customers. It's amazing how stubborn so many people have been. Like I've said before, people will not wear masks unless if they are mandated to (and yes, I know that I've expressed skepticism over the mandatory mask orders since). But it's starting to get on me now, especially as we employees have been required to wear masks for weeks now, and yet many people still are not.

A suggestion that I might give: Thank people for wearing masks or scarves. Kind words can be encouraging. The isolation under which people live is limiting their opportunity to hear kind words of any kind.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, society should shame those who don’t wear masks.
They should be ostracized and rumored about in their communities.

I wouldn't go that far dude. Maybe everybody should just make a point to stay 12 feet away instead of 6, and if they ask about it, tell them truthfully that you don't feel safe around them. You're kind of letting them know that they'te being an a__hole without being rude yourself back to them.

At this current rate, I believe that we will reach 125,000 deaths by August. I don't believe it will be any higher.

I think this goes too far. In areas where it hasn't been mandated-such as in El Paso County-people can choose whether or not to wear masks. Businesses of course, can refuse to admit them if they so wish. However, I certainly am starting to see the value in the arguments of those who want to make it mandatory, by government order.

Ironically enough, I had two customers thank me for wearing a mask over a month ago, before Governor Polis made it mandatory for essential employees. At that time, most of my fellow employees were not wearing masks.
