Republicans, have a look at how abortions were carried out in Ceausescu's Romania to see what's in store.

Ironically both the bad things from it working and not working happened.

Frankly, you are the one who needs to grow up. Your entire persona on this website is fetishizing 2012 Republicans, yet here you are caping for a court that is one case away from overturning Lawrence, let alone Roe. At long last, have you abandoned any principled opposition to undue government intrusion into private life, any devotion to the separation of church and state that made this country great?

Mitt Romney ran on overturning Roe

Again, couched in theocracy.

What does that make you?

I’m not even a Christian

Being beholden to the arbitrary culture war lines of the Christian right without even being a Christian is perhaps one of the largest Ls I have ever witnessed in terms of political ideology.

Evangelical Protestants weren’t even opposed to Abortion up until the 1970s. It was actually the Catholics who have always opposed abortion, and the death penalty, and supported civil rights, yeah… all life.

But once the civil rights movement was “ over “, the Protestants needed a new bogeyman so they made an alliance with Catholics and the rest is history

Many Democratic politicians not from California, Minnesota, or Massachusetts would rather have coat hanger abortions become rampant than to fix the courts.

Republicans realize this doesn't actually ban abortion, just safe and legal access to it, they just don't care. It's always been about subjugating women and limiting rights.

These people are fascists. Plain and simple.

The Republican Party is pure fascism. We're probably only 5-10 years from Gujarat-style mass murder in certain parts of the country.

Folks who repeatedly concern troll about this will be muted from this board for 24 hrs.  I’ve already had to issue one of these.  I am in no mood for concern trolling right now; this is the first and last warning.

I know you don't care theocrat, but the rest of the world might have a problem with SCOTUS becoming a Guardian Council, which they are slipping very close to.

This logic makes no sense. If the outcome is already known, then "the blow" already happened/is currently happening/will be happening.

You’re not a theocrat, you just don’t know what you’re talking about with respect to this issue, legally speaking.

So uh, can you define this so no one gets unfairly moderated for expressing genuine opinions?

Just asking since the transparency would be a good thing here.

While in bad taste to comment electoral analysis on a night such as this, it is undeniable that this decision will have unheard-of political waves that will not only affect 2022 but all subsequent elections. This gives Democrats a legitimate narrative weapon to combat GOP lies (elect GOP and this will happen to you) and when the majority of the country is pro-choice to at least some degree this will be a winning message. If 2022 is no longer a referendum on Biden's economy/inflation and is instead one on banning abortion, GOP is no longer certain to sweep....

So let me get this straight: A ruling which says the issue of abortion will be decided by the legislators is anti democratic but the court ruling that legislators have no say what so ever on this issue is pro democracy.

I'm not interested in the legal analysis of anyone who opposes overturning West Coast Hotel v. Parrish.

With this decision, the idea of the Supreme Court being a non-partisan institution has been shot to hell. What a horrendous day for our country.

It seems like only Democrats have clung to this illusion recently. And any Dem who continues to do so after this shows that they fundamentally cannot accept the reality of how political power operates in this country right now.

Oh, and obligatory shoutout to everyone left of center who just couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hillary Clinton on 11/8/2016 (whether because she was too right-wing or too left-wing). Nice f**king job, losers.

Don't forget the Nader voters who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Gore in 2000.

This is potentially one of the biggest Supreme Court decisions in decades, and you're b*tching about thread length?
