The Russians will never be back in Kherson. February 24th was a desperate attempt by Russia to regain control over Ukraine, anyway.

The Russian retreat from Kherson will have a domino effect on the pro-Russian elements in the other Ukrainian areas annexed by Russia.  If Russia can abandon Kherson then what stops them from doing the same for other regions recently annexed by Russians?

I mean from a certain perspective,  everything Ukrainian soldiers have liberated from Russia is because Russia abandoned it. First there was the northern front,  which Russia left after stagnation to refocus on the south.  Then came Kharkiv, which Russia had seemingly abandoned of all soldiers but the ineffectual garrisons, inviting advances and a rout. Now Kherson.

It's partially this perspective that is fueling what is apparently a shadow war within the Kremlin. The hardliners don't like these retreats. Add enough fuel and the internal fire will  erupt, it's one reason why Putin kept pouring troops into kherson and now for naught.

Kherson City is basically a ghost city now. Everything of resource has been stripped, and it's citizens sent to mainland Russia or occupied territory. I would compare it to Moscow/Borodino 1812.

With Russia's last significant logistical strain gone/Dnieper river as cover, it's offensive capabilities are strengthened.

Meanwhile back in Donetsk, in Pavlivka/Ugledar region:

Stalin is murderous dictator guilty of several genocides but his worst crime to me is drawing the atrocious internal borders of the Soviet Union. Look at the border between Kherson and Mykolaiv Oblast! It jumps between several rivers! It doesn't follow any natural boundaries at all! Don't even get me started on Ferghana Valley!!! It makes no damn sense!!!!

One of my favorites was the decision, after the 1940 annexation of Moldova, to give Budjak to Ukraine ensuring that future independent Moldova didn't have any coastline.

This brings the total of HAWK air defense systems Spain is giving to Ukraine to 6

Again, an old system for sure but has decent range and can take on helicopters, drones, cruise missiles and some fighter jets (not all due to slow missile speed).

There are apparently six launchers in a standard Hawk Phase III battery, so I'm guessing they've given one battery (but I imagine we'll eventually find out if they got as many as 6 batteries). What is less clear is which version they were given - Phase I (which Spain might no longer have?), Phase 3 or Phase XXI (the last of these involves a new radar and AMRAAM missiles which Ukraine now possesses). These upgrades happened decades apart and each affects the range by several tens of km, so it's a big deal.
