Jabari Brisport (socialist state senator) endorses Morales #1 and Stringer #2.

Morales second and third choice votes are going to be very good for Stringer.

Hey, that's a pretty good one! Still surprised at her lack of union support though.

Met Stringer and petitioned for Stringer+Lander today.

Feeling good about Scott. I spoke to his people, they loved my characterization of the Emerson poll as "typical trash from Memerson" and they aren't taking it seriously.

Yeah, though I don't know if we'll ever reach the true peak of the Leno/Kim ticket in the 2018 special SF mayor's race.

It has lowered the temperature of the race for sure. Less attacking, more coalition building.

Also a slight tangent but I went in a bit deep and there are a lot of open races this year in NYC. The race for Comptroller, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, and about a third of the city council have no incumbent running as they’re term limited. There’s a lot of seat trading and other interesting characters running behind just the mayoral election.

Oxygen thief billionaire land developers plan to spend tens of millions on trying to get a moderate Dem elected. I'm not sure why they're bothering, both Yang and Adam seem squarely I'm their corner. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/09/nyregion/stephen-ross-mayor-money.html

Thanks for sharing. Very bad stuff.

As for where I'm at, I moving squarely into Stringer's corner and hoping to get a volunteering position.

He's the only candidate I believe that combines progressive policies with decades of government experience. I like his endorsements (Bowman, Nadler, RWDSU) and I like the guy personally!

My view on Garcia has declined given her lack of liberalism, I like her experience but she's too moderate for my taste. I've been moving away from Yang for some time. I will very likely not be ranking him at all.

In the Comptroller race I am entirely behind Lander, without the shadow of a doubt. Corey Johnson should never have ran.

It's mostly because Lander is amazing.

Since Menchaca's only emailing about donations, I am thinking of hopping on the Stringer train as well. I've been getting emails about signing up for a petition gathering shift. I think I'll do it.

Yang joining forces with the most establishment / (relatively) right wing major Manhattan DA candidate. Think he’s clearly positioning himself on the right of the NYC Dems at this point, with some idiosyncrasies.

Not in NYC, but Yang was my second favorite behind Ray McGuire. Now I just like Yang for the meme. This is definitely bad optics, and partnering with Farhadian Weinstein over Orlins or Aboushi will hurt his numbers amongst progressives, who are already flocking to Morales in droves.

Agreed, beyond a few progressive policies like the People's Bank, I don't see what's there.

It's so weird to see that when Yang ran a national campaign just now (though I admittedly say "just now" in relative terms, because holy hell, I can't believe it's already been a year since the primaries ended), he was seen as being a member of the party's progressive wing, given his literal support for Bernie back in 2016 & his having ran on what's (relative to the rest of the country) a hard swipe to progressive economics vis-a-vis a literal UBI, yet now that he's running for Mayor of New York, he's generously considered the center-left moderate of the race.

I suppose a good question that arises from this observation is whether it says more about where Yang's actually been this whole time or about any particular ideological uniqueness on the NYC Dems' part?

Not entirely sure since I don’t really understand what makes him tick but he’s gotten very close to Torres and some of his consultants are ex-Bloomberg so that could explain some of it. Don’t know if they’re driving it or if he chose them because he agrees with them though.

Yang was called a Libertarian-in-secret for a reason during the primaries. His support for cutting social security and unemployment insurance for UBI, his initial astroturfing on 4chan, and the fact that he is a wealthy multimillionaire should have been clear signals—moreso than John Dule stanning him.

It was blatantly obvious, and now the water that has been treaded beforehand and through meme magic will get Yang through with both low-information bums and small business owners over the progressive candidate.

One hope is that we get a very progressive council after the primaries (possible with the open seats and DSA/WFP/general activist energy around the council campaigns) and that will shift Yang's governing posture.

He should be more malleable and open to left wing initiatives than Adams would be, if there is a progressive council, but who knows.
