The lack of polling on this race is not helping anyone.

No comments about my translation of some of the Wasserman benchmarks from 10/28/21, but all sorts of other random posts?Huh

Wasserman is the worst professional politico IMO.  Look how bad a job he did at predicting 2020.  I don't trust his benchmarks at all.

Then provide your own.   Wink

Been cruising around to see if Miles (Atlas own legend who moved on to greener pastures) has any benchmarks posted on his Twitter channel.

Couldn't easily locate any, but looks like he is now working for Sabato's Crystal Ball (Based out of Virginia) so wouldn't be surprised to see Miles post something prior to ED....     Smiley

I posted a few.  I am not comfortable coming up with benchmarks outside of NOVA as I don't know how the populations there have shifted.

I also think both campaigns are way too focused on areas like Chesterfield just to say they won it or hit some benchmark.  They should both be much more focused on Fairfax, which is a lot more vote rich and more prone to turn out.

If Dems are getting 68% or so again in Fairfax it really doesn't matter what benchmarks Youngkin hits in Chesterfield or Virginia Beach or if black turnout is super high downstate in the cities.  If Dems are getting more like 65% in Fairfax it could be interesting.

I want to see if Dems hit 75-80% of the initial Fairfax drop.

Angry NOVA women for Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi!

This election has so much meme potential, I wish I could have two avatars.

That woman looks 80 years old.  She doesn't have kids in public school.  The GOP is getting more and more desperate.

She's probably not from NOVA.  These individuals have been coming from other counties to harass Fairfax voters about CRT for weeks now.  Not just at polling locations but at grocery stores, Starbucks, etc.

I forgot, the whole purpose of the thread is to answer your questions...

Not saying it's not a dumpster fire of a thread, but come on, that read as really silly.

Fair enough, you probably correct my SD friend.

Starting to wonder why even bother posting in this particular thread, when there are a few others out there with much higher quality of content and analysis.

Still, this particular thread tends to be dominated by posts from one individual and we get all this other crap floating around, so naturally am a bit frustrated.

Maybe you can answer some of my questions.    Smiley   Wink

What is it about Northern Virginia that makes it ground zero for culture wars circa 2021 in the eyes of the media? Its distance to DC? The clash between transplants and non-transplants? The fact that Youngkin is running a campaign fixated on those issues? Anything else?

I think the proximity to DC is the number one factor by far. A lot of Beltway journalists live there, in addition to the other "political class" types (lobbyists, consultants, etc). So naturally they'll be more focused on what happens in their backyards compared to other metro areas, even ones that are transplant-heavy and see similar tensions.

For example, Boise is also growing extremely fast and I'm sure the same kinds of culture war clashes happen between transplants and natives, but you never hear anything about them.

It represents the changing of this country and traditional GOP voters/southerners becoming in the distinct minority.  The GOP keeps losing more and more here and has firmly lost control of VA and they can't handle it.

Next will be Georgia.  When they lose that they will go apoplectic.

Never thought this would be so exciting. I disliked Terry McAuliffe when he spoke on CNN strongly. So im not against Youngkin winning.

Please do not repeat false narratives about NSV that stem from misunderstandings about how he posts. You are a moderator, you ought to know better.
P.S. 346 Non-Swing Voter posts in a thread that has been up for almost as many days is not special or excessive.
(Convenient how you cite these statistics in this way when you leave out the fact this is a period of time stretching all the way back to mere days after Joe Biden was elected)

The vast majority of his posts have been within the last 2-3 months. If you had used search, you would have known that. You shouldn't tut-tut people when you don't really know what you're talking about.
