That's some mega fraud if it would have gotten Loeffler over 50. (Or maybe he just doesn't understand the runoff concept lol.)

GA results now official (26 minutes ago):

It seems they made the original count official, not the recount ...

Yes, they said the original count (plus the unscanned ballots discovered during the audit) would be the official result, not the hand count, on the grounds that the audit proved there were no major problems with the machines, and therefore the machine count was more reliable than the hand count.

We seriously need some internationally-administered de-Trumpification in this country like we did in Germany after WWII. This behavior is not normal and certainly not an indication of a functioning society.

We seriously need some internationally-administered de-Trumpification in this country like we did in Germany after WWII. This behavior is not normal and certainly not an indication of a functioning society.

Someone said on a podcast or something recently (I forget who) that a "Marshall Plan for West Virginia" would go a long way toward deradicalizing the far right diehards in this country. In post-war Germany, there were still Nazi holdouts at first, but it didn't take too long for the improved quality of life and economic recovery that the Marshall Plan brought to the country to sway them to give it up and embrace Western liberal values.

Basically, the best way to defuse anti-government radicalism is to show people that the government can help them, with concrete, tangible results. I've long been saying that this is precisely what we need to do, obviously not just in WV but all places throughout the country that have been left behind economically in recent years. Ironically, Hillary's plan to transition coal to clean energy would have been perfect -- workers get re-trained to a higher-paying, safer job with more security and long-term prospects. It's better for them and everyone else.

The problems with implementing this sort of thing are:

1. Our messaging has been pretty horrible. Hillary's "put a lot of coal miners out of business" gaffe was obviously terrible, but it's way more than that. The basic concept of the "Green New Deal" actually is not bad, but I think there needs to be less emphasis on the "Green" part and more on the "New Deal" part. It should be framed in a way that is all about creating jobs, with the environmental benefits sold merely as an added perk rather than the centerpiece of the idea. None of the s--t about banning cows and planes, or other pie in the sky ideas like converting every building in America to 100% clean energy. Just talk about the potential for a new booming industry, then go from there. And never talk about destroying jobs, only creating them.

2. The Republicans will obstruct all of this because they don't want their voters' lives to be improved, let alone by a Democratic government. It's horrible, but true. They know the best way to keep these people wrapped around their finger is to keep them economically depressed and to keep them blaming liberals, foreigners, etc. for it. Fixing our messaging may help with this some as well, but we have to be as competent as the GOP is at demonizing our opponents, and as willing to do it in the first place.

We need to stop the radicalization on both sides. The violence caused by the blm is worst as they really did commit violence and that isn't a sign of any functioning society either. Acting like this isn't a sad reality isn't going to help the divide in our society as the truth is needed to heal our wounds.

I hope both sides can cool it and find a way to work within a peaceful and civilized manner.

Ya'll don't understand what losing Virginia and Georgia does to these white supremacist. It's more than losing a state or some electoral votes. Symbolically losing Virginia and Georgia drives these people nuts.

Nonsense, far right groups commit more political violence on average than any other group. Many of the most heinous examples of BLM "violence" that Republicans are hyping also had far right agitators or saboteurs such as the Minneapolis police station fire.

Hate crimes were at all an time high in 2019 with the largest group of perpetrators being white supremacists.

It's the second time they (or their families at least) have been traumatized by losing Virginia and Georgia.

I oppose all violence be it left or right.

I wish we'd just stop and work towards what we believe in peacefully within political means.

Losing VA and GA is a big deal.  Once they're gone for the GOP they're gone for a long long time.  This means you go from having 2 conservative GOP senators to 2 very liberal DEM senators.  The demographic change across the South is going to screw the GOP long term.

On that note Stacey Abrams deserves a medal.  There is no state result on the map that can be so single handedly traced back to one persons work more than her in Georgia.  Biden should give her whatever cabinet position she wants.

The difference is you are pointing to random political protestors on the left.  Whereas the atrocities and undermining of our society at large is happening straight from the top on the right.  False equivalency.

Yeah, technically this was not a recount but an audit so the hand recount results can't be used as the official result. It's only used to confirm that the machines worked reliably.

The question now is what's the press conference for?

I saw a tweet that Kemp is going to defend the Georgia election administration, processes, etc. Which I guess would make sense as you don't want to discourage Republicans from voting in the runoff.
