Adding a hot take of my own, bicyclists going on major streets should have to carry a license. Make them more responsible for their actions rather than doing whatever and endangering everyone.

So true! Bicyclists have no respect for the rules of the road and are constantly the cause of nearly every problem I see on the road. I don't drive, but it's very obvious who is in the wrong from the pedestrian's perspective.

Good thing the law says you're wrong!
I’m glad the law protects your transportation to the pizza parlor where you work.

On a tangent from that religion debate, here's a hot take: If you only believe in the physical world that can be observed scientifically, then you believe that humans are only nature+nurture, meaning that we're all just chemical reactions responding to stimulus. This in turn means that if you knew the position and velocity of all atoms in the universe, you'd be able to predict the entire future of existence. In other words, you logically have to embrace determinism and accept that humans don't have free will.

Bicycles are for children and teenagers too young for a license, and their use by well-off adults as a primary means of transportation is a sign of softness and social decay. This applies to the general decline in driving as well.

Biking is one of the most fun and best ways to get exercise on the weekends.  In many places, to get from one trail to the other, you have to ride with traffic for a short period of time.  Your comment is absurd.

The DINK (double income, no kids) lifestyle is selfish and incredibly narcissistic, especially when the people in question are well-off.

People are and will always be very selfish. That's why we need much better child tax credits to disadvantage those DINKs

In many parts of the country and the world bicycling is a more practical mode of transportation than driving a car. I fail to see what it has to do with "social decay" - whatever that term means.

Good-- I'm not saying it's a negative; I value ideological/philosophical consistency.

Christians should not watch Game of Thrones, as the show crosses the line (so I've heard, I've never seen it) from a TV show to outright pornography.  It's one thing if a show implies that people are having sex, but to actually show it on TV, as GoT apparently does, is a completely different thing and warrants a boycott from Christians.

Thank God (hehe) the majority of Christians aren't as puritanical as you are.

Erm, are you against references to the existence of sex?

You realize that you are a reference to the existence of sex, right? (obviously as the product of sex, not a participant)

I didn't say that, but I said shows should not show the sex themselves.  I do wish that they would limit implications of sex to married couples, but I only won't watch a show for something truly excessive like GoT.

I really wish premarital sex would become a massive taboo that no one would openly discuss again.

Define "showing" sex. I've seen every episode of GoT and I can promise you that they never show penetration.

Christians are not the only moral religion Tongue

There are other moral religions, that shall not watch this morally-scarring atrocity

So your objection is to references of pre-marital sex? Because you think it is morally wrong?

Do you not have objections to showing actual crimes, e.g., murder, robbery, fraud, in mass media?

Game of Thrones is a trash show post season 4.

This is not even remotely a bad take. I can count the number of genuinely good post-S4 episodes on one hand.

No. I don't claim to be enlightened (my name is purely a joke), and I also do not claim to be a genius or posses a "vast intellect". I am of average intelligence at best.
So the woman who sometimes preaches at my church who holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology is of significantly higher intelligence than you I'd wager.

The character of Thanos in the The Avengers series is directly inspired by Hillary Clinton. Recall his "I am inevitable" statement with Hillary's "It's Her Turn." Similarly, Thanos's quest to annihilate half the world's population is reflective of Hillary's full-throated support for abortion (claiming responsibility for the killing of billions – trillions even) and of her murders committed in Benghazi and Seth Rich. Thanos is supposedly the most despicable threat to the human (and non-human) race. Who else could have inspired that?

On a similar note, Captain Marvel is supposed to be Trump. A sexy blonde (they even have similar haircuts in Endgame) who is one of the most powerful and selfless forces in the universe, originating on Earth (Trump's 2000 flirtation with running for President) disappears for a long time to help other planets (Trump and the realm of real estate) but returns to Earth to fight the final fight and defeat Thanos (for Trump, his return to the political arena).

Simply put, The Avengers is a pointed political allegory, our generation's Animal Farm.

The idea that the intelligence level of the person propounding a position is some direct measure of its value is one of the more inane things you see in society today. Utilitarianism is an awful doctrine and it seems to be exclusively smart people who embrace it.

People who say we should boycott certain TV shows or music because "WAAAAH THIS OFFENDS ME BECAUSE [insert reason here]" are the worst.

Like, seriously, this isn't the 90's anymore.

What's absolutely heart breaking is that one of those post-S4 goodies was S8E2, which was phenomenal ... only to be followed up with the trash heap we've gotten the last two weeks. Sad
