I remember hacks like Bill Mitchell spinning PA18 because Lamb won by only 800 votes.

Whether or not provisionals decide the winner, one thing is certain: it shouldn’t be this close.

I think provisionals are being over-estimated here.   If Balderson is winning by ~2k or so by the end of tonight he probably wins.

Disappointed in the outcome, assuming it remains, but this gives me hope for so many midwestern districts that are less republican(and more suburban/urban) than this.

If you look at  Delaware, Morrow, and Licking the GOP vote is about the same as the Trump 2016 vote.

A world where OH-12 and the former PA-18 are coin flips is a world where there is a lot of pain for the GOP.

Not as good of a result for Democrats as many of us were hoping, but on par with a massive swing toward the Dems in the Midwest. A 10% shift statewide in Ohio flips it.

I think those wasted Green votes are going to cost DOC in the end.

Democratic Party votes are earned and not granted....

O'Connor was considered too "Moderate Dem" for some of his constituents, just like in some elections 'Pubs vote for 3rd Party candidates from the opposite direction.

Actually the Green vote is historically low for the precincts within CD-12.... Metro Columbus has a TON of Green voters (Well unless they all moved away since I last lived around there 20 years ago) compared to almost any other region of Ohio.

Is the Green Party useful for anything besides getting Republicans elected?

O'Connor camp felt the Green was taking from both evenly.

Wasserman is also saying provisionals could matter.

They should really drop the "-EN" from their name and call themselves the "GRE" Party- Getting Republicans Elected Party.

I think they'll only matter if Balderson is up by a few hundred votes, not anything a thousand or over.

The takeaway from a potential Green spoiler for Democrats shouldn't be "f--k third parties", it should be a push for nationwide ranked-choice voting to prevent any potential upsets like this.

Seriously though. If we're comparing this race to the 2016 congressional election, it's a 36-point shift.

Yes, and those constituents were apparently too stupid to realize that it was a choice between a moderate Democrat and a Republican. Hope they're happy.
