Some people are getting smug about this, but this is not necessarily a step towards surrender. If they intend to pursue full mobilisation, they'll need a case for it.

IMO, they'll try to get some more achievements before risking it, so it can look like the "special operation" was a partial success that achieved something worth building on with a full-scale war.

Airborne troops are sitting ducks when the other side knows you're coming. There's a reason the allies dropped airborne forces within 15 minutes of the Navy starting to shell German defenses.
