The Dr. Nick video is perfect. Oz's biggest liability has always been the quack science and scam artist stuff, so glad to see Fetterman is going all in on that.

How strong is the evidence on the dog stuff?  That's the kind of scandal that could actually move the race if it's legit.  And this somehow feels even more like 2012 now.

It was mostly just Twitter rumors before, but Jezebel picking it up gives it legitimacy. I'm watching to see if national outlets or the Philly Inquirer, etc. pick it up. There seems to be a bit more actual reporting in the Jezebel article confirming Oz's involvement in the tests, but we'll see if it gains traction with other outlets.

Fetterman is running with it, so I assume they believe it to be legitimate or else I'd imagine they wouldn't touch it. They stayed away when it was just Twitter rumors.

They need to run TV ads on this.

Two completely different narratives above: "Oz is a terrible candidate!" "Fetterman is a terrible candidate!" Partisans aren't going to win each other over. Independents and "less informed" voters will make the difference.

I guess I could be counted as a less-informed voter; I can't remember the last time I was genuinely undecided on a federal race with a month to go.

Governor's race is much easier, though! Smiley

Apart from any other considerations, I'm very surprised that a medical professional such as yourself would consider voting for a quack like Oz.

Why do people care so much about dogs? While nobody should vote for Oz because he is a clear fraud who would sell out America like he sold out his career and platform...what he did with dogs should not matter. I support animal testing for scientific advancement.

Because dogs are always happy as long as their basic needs are met. Could you imagine if every person walking down the street smiled the way a dog does? I bet your dog is more excited to see you when you get home than your parents/partner

Suffolk coming tomorrow. May be a clue to the "momentum" argument, I just hope for everyones sake this is not a 45-42 poll again.

Their last poll was early June and Fetterman 46-37.

Are we just all gonna gloss over Arizona Iced Tea referring to Fetterman as "Fetterwoman"? I'm not offended, I just think you have better insults in you, my dear.

It's certainly a stupid attempt at an insult, but Fetterman has used this for merch:

A “good boy” smile is very natural though. If everyone forced a smile all the time that’s be one thing but dogs seem genuinely happy.

Is humans are all uptight with our social norms about keeping a “neutral” face, wearing clothes, and having separate rooms for pooping.

I'm getting serious 2016 vibes about this race and it's scary as a newly-minted Pennsylvanian.

I wonder if Oz will be able to avoid major scrutiny over these allegations. He might be able to say that his subordinates carried out the euthanasia and that he wasn't responsible for the day to day suffering, but a lot of these descriptions sound terrible and not defensible.  It doesn't seem to be major news yet, even though it's been out for a few weeks. Why was he using dogs in the first place? Pigs are the most similar and no one really cares if a pig isn't treated well.

An accusation like this can singlehandedly either win or lose the race for you depending on what evidence is out there.  Fetterman had better hope this is legit and Oz had better hope it isn't.

Still waiting for reputable outlets to confirm this, but if this is true, it would be one of very few things that would actually make me vote third party if I lived in PA.

This reads almost as ghoulish as the story itself. Also, please speak for yourself on this.

The goal of the research, from my understanding, was to simulate cardiac events in humans but by using animals. Pigs have more similar physiology to humans than dogs so I'm unsure why dogs were chosen as the research animal. Especially since dogs are rarely used as research subjects in the first place.

I'm not speaking to my personal views on whether a dog or a pig's life matters more, but I think the general public finds abuse of dogs as more morally reprehensible than abuse of pigs. I doubt this would be a major or developing story if the allegations were solely about Oz's research leading to pig abuse.

LMAO, apparently scamming millions of Americans is perfectly okay but as soon as some stray dog isn’t tested perfectly you vote third party. Once again showing the American obsession with dogs.

I remember reading allegations of this but I didn't know if the story had any truth to it. Apparently it does. Fetterman should get on this. Animal cruelty is horrendous.

Wasn't a big story because I think people were trying to see if they could confirm it or not. Looks like Jezebel spoke to the whisteblower, got more info to corroborate more details than what was in the Twitter stuff.
