I've also said it before but the democratic joy of infighting & navel gazing makes it too easy to see this as solely a democratic failure; rather than a democratic failure & good republican outreach work

Or we can just take the Republican tactic of "Joe Biden won in a landslide. The only reason he didn't win by 10% with 413 electoral votes was because of voter fraud. 100% of new voters going to Trump in the Rio Grande Valley? Very suspicious!"
They continue to count Arizona and Trump is gaining votes. STOP THE COUNT!

How about Iowa and Ohio? And Kansas? Joe led BIG LEAGUE until votes spawned out of nothing and changed the lead. VOTER FRAUD IS IN ACTION!

I understand where Spanberger is coming from. AOC having more exposure than other Democrat post-2018 minus Biden himself is not a good thing in my opinion.

Her and her squad members being so prominent in the media is not a great thing for the Democrats. It most certainly hurt down ballot races this cycle. While their intentions I am sure are good, their brand of politics does not have mass appeal.

The $1200 stimulus check that the government sent and that low information voters credit Trump for has more to do with working class rural Latinos swinging to Trump. I know people who are not citizens but have working status and taxpayer ID who received the $1200 stimulus. And since the vast majority of immigrants work despite what you hear, in many households there were 2-4 members of the family who got stimulus funds(plus kids). While these people can't vote there was buzz about stimulus checks with friends and family who could.

The Florida Cuban shift was pure indoctrination and credit the Florida GOP for engaging these folks. In South Florida the Cubans have all kinds of social organizations that help arriving Cubans. They bring them up to speed with bureaucracy, do job placement, and this is one of the places to start targeting them politically for when they can vote.

Koch brothers were doing the same thing with Puerto Ricans in Central Florida with classes exposing them to libertarian and fiscal conservatism, this is even more efficient because Puerto Ricans can vote straight away. Florida Republicans like Scott were also smart to fast track Puerto Ricans into state bureaucracy like granting them in-state tuition to Florida Colleges and Universities.

I mean I’m glad Spanberger hung on but girl like.... complaining about a BLM attack ad against you and blaming leadership? It’s called a campaign. Learn to run one better next time so you can fight off these attacks.

She's right though.

"Defund the police" sounds really bad.

Cool. No one in the Democratic leadership ever said to defund the police. So, again, Spanberger should be able to run her own campaign without blaming others for nearly losing.

But Rashida Tlaib and AOC were all about defunding and their words were used against DMP and Spanberger

Awesome. Maybe Spanberger should complain about them then? But to be honest, she really should take responsibility for her own election results. Stop scapegoating others for your own crappy results.

Spanberger is saying that the leadership should have put its foot down and tell Rashida Tlaib and AOC to knock it off, or else...

LOL Yeah let's muzzle the best rising star in the Democratic Party and pulverize youth turnout.

Deflecting blame is pathetic. Put forward a vision instead of handing Trump and the GOP the narrative.
The best rising star? Kamala Harris?

Anyway, we are putting forward a vision. They just suck up all the oxygen in the room. And for the record, I think kicking them out of the caucus is a bridge too far but asking people to change their messaging is fine. Don't identify as a democratic socialist. It doesn't actually accomplish anything and distracts voters from real messaging. Don't use the phrases "abolish" and "defund" when you're really talking about reforming flawed but not unpopular institutions. Push left behind the scenes if you like but always pretend to be more moderate than you actually are.

I agree that that is the correct take. The fact that these exit polls are demonstrating overwhelming, cross-party favor for universal healthcare and green energy initiatives means that the progressive position on these issues is the moderate position. Florida passing a $15/hr minimum wage means there's a disconnect somewhere. Progressives need to emphasize that their positions are, actually, very much so in perfect alignment with the majority. It's the conservatives blasting support for tax cuts and oil subsidies that are out of step. I'm not sure how best to actually craft that messaging, but as long as working class voters are swayed by Trumpism and culture war nonsense, the Democratic leadership is doing it wrong.

Christ. Just end it.

It looks like only PA can end it this week if they actually have their votes counted by tomorrow.

So is that it then? Is it all over?

No way that's 99% of the total vote.

Or, you know, this ain't want is being claimed. And you're kind of a fool to believe it if you do. And an awful person if you don't believe it but shared it anyway.

I don't see a call in the next 10 hours, if that's what you're asking.

Maybe PA but Philly is processing 10,000 votes per hour and Allegheny won't count again until tomorrow so it's definitely iffy it'll happen

Do you really? Or do you just like that the democrats will be back in the white house?

Most democrats I know, all agree that Biden is an awful candidate on the basis that after 47 years he's still achieved nothing in politics, is likely taking corrupt money from foreign governments and changes his positions on core policies to suit the mood.

I like Biden for Biden.  He's a class act, a decent man, a "good" politician, willing to work across the aisle, recognizes the power of bipartisanship, and has a strong desire to restore decency and respect to the Oval Office.

Your guy is the most horrid person ever to be president of this country.
Fair enough. But I was just wanting to hear from someone who voted Biden whether they think the Hunter Biden and James Biden business dealings are just pure coincidence that they took place in places Joe was responsible for foreign policy, or whether they likely represent corruption.

Start a separate thread for that discussion, please.  Don't sidetrack the counting/results thread.

it's utterly ridiculous that we've gotten barely any vote counts today from any of the states.  Yes a trickle here and there but something is going on.

I bet Trump has cronies allover the place challenging every ballot to stall the process.

Eh, even if GA finishes, networks aren't calling it 'til either a recount happens or Trump forgoes one (lol)

Not even PA?  I thought their officials have been saying we could get a call tonight or tomorrow?

Agree with this but the reason this thread keeps getting sidetracked is because the vote counters AREN'T DOING ANYTHING.  It's infuriating.
