https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/sources-sen-manchin-agreed-to-start-reconciliation-negotiations-at-2-1t-white-house-refuses-122374213788

Morning Joe Exclusive

Manchin and maybe Sinema? say they want something around 1.5 trillion, will negotiate from 2.1 trillion, more means testing and work requirements. President Biden says this is not an acceptable place to start.

"Means testing" is a poor way to save a little money, since you have to spend money to make sure people aren't lying, a lot of people get away with it anyway, and a lot of people fall through the cracks.

D's knew about Rs not blinking on the Debt Ceiling for 10 wks and they Dared the Rs to vote against the Debt Ceiling increase and they didn't blink

This is why Biden might lose the H some next Nov, he waits to the last minute, but at same time Rs are obstruction, Collins is gonna lose in 2026 abd cost LePage and Pouquin the Election because she is obstructing VR and Debt Ceiling

This Medicare expansion doesn't even take effect until 2028, Manchin said he isn't a guarenteed vote on 3.5T dollar spending bill but on tax reform he is a yes on 1.5T dollars, it's not gonna be 3.5T Dollar

The 29T dollar debt we have is due mainly due to tax cuts weren't paid for and the 300 bonus Federal Unemployment since 2020, that's why Manchin isn't renewing unemployment. But it's our money we pay FICA TAX NOT POLITICIANS, we should get 1 more 1400 check, Pandemic isn't over, Bernie,Warren and To Khanna supports

The UBI 1400 was a small part of the Cares Act but still a factor

At this moment, Pelosi in all likelyhood delays the vote. I'd be really surprised otherwise.

She must have the votes from Republicans then, because all the messaging from the progressive caucus has indicated that they're a united front in voting against the bill. She wouldn't bring it for a vote if it wasn't going to pass.

Actually it's not true that Pelosi never brings up a vote that won't pass. She brought up the TARP bill in late September 2008 and the vote failed. I remember this clearly because .SPX dropped 9% as a result. The next time TARP was brought up it passed.

Maybe she's going for something similar here, let the vote fail and use the negative reaction to scare the progressives into voting for it.

The market did drop almost 1% since 11:30AM.  Part of that is of course end of quarter selling but the current situation with the infrastructure bill must be playing a role.

I’d agree with this unless the progressives cave in the next hour or so.

The breach of trust is from Sinema and Sinema alone. She shouldn't have promised to pair the bills if she didn't intend to follow through.

Manchin seems like he's at least trying to negotiate and find common ground.  Sinema is being an obstinate, contrarian bitch for no reason.

My preference would be to find something, no matter what it is, that we can agree on with Manchin, and then hoist enormous pressure on Sinema.  If Sinema really wants to be the lone holdout after Manchin agrees to something she's free to go down in flames, f--k her.

Manchin's called for a "strategic pause" is utter nonsense.  But I have faith in the White House to figure out a deal with him.

Meanwhile I think we need to just pass the infrastructure bill.  This administration desperately needs a big win.  Most of the stuff that was taken out of the bill and moved to reconciliation was stuff that was not crucial to the bill, like "human infrastructure."  That is how negotiation works.  Now we are having to come down from the $3.5T starting point to some middle ground, hopefully it is not all the way down at $1.5T but it's clear that there's a possibility to pass something.

I wish we didn't have to rely on Manchin for this stuff but we're extremely lucky to have 50 votes in the first place.  When Biden got elected, and throughout the course of the presidential election, everyone assumed he'd be having to work with Mitch McConnell to get this stuff through.  I'd much rather have Joe Manchin as a sparring partner than Mitch McConnell.  Obviously I'd prefer to not even have to deal with Manchin, but Cal Cunningham couldn't keep his dick in his pants.

Also it's funny in this moment to look back at the primary and recall the progressive left's insistence that they could pass whatever far-left legislation they wanted because all the moderates and centrists would obviously fall in line.  If we can't even get everyone in line behind this $3.5T reconciliation package, do you really think you'd be able to get the entire caucus to fall in line behind bills ten times that size to eliminate private health insurance or battle climate change?  Politics is a lot harder than Brooklyn stoners on your favorite podcast made it sound.  Intraparty agreement can not be taken for granted.  You can't just set the bar all the way out in la-la land, refuse to vote for anything else, and expect the rest of the party to fall in line.

Just remember guys, Manchin is always secretly doing what the leadership wants, so this mess is clearly what the leadership has secretly been planning for all along. For some reason they wanted the administration to have no achievements for over half a year while the infrastructure bill gets broken down and public enthusiasm wanes. Despite the President's approvals tanking for the past month after Afghanistan, he apparently wants to put off and water down a big campaign promise unnecessarily rather than using it to get back on track.

Is this a parody of other posts or do you actually believe this?

Given his history it’s a parody.

As they should.
We told progressive Bernie supporters to compromise and take one for the team and they did. Now it’s time for moderates to take one for the team.

Sinema and Manchin arent budging on a 1.5T dollar plan, Manchin said tax reform and Child tax credits and climate change and leaving Medicare Expansion til after the Election, the Medicare Expansion doesn't take effects til 2028, if you are under income as a Senior or Disabled you get you premium paid by Medicaid 150 and you have dual coverage, while Medicaid pay for Dental not for Partials, fDentures or Crowns on molars and most of the tarter is on back teeth

Over 100 dollars in Glasses or contacts you have to pay out of pocket

The 29T dollar debt we have is due to 2 yrs of Federal unemployment extension of 300 and tax cuts not the Unemployment itself, but the extra money

Cali is giving us another 600 stimulus
