Mail ballot requests continue to skew non-white as more come in

Special election mail ballot requests: 1,167,996 (53.6% white/31.2% black/5.3% asian or hispanic/9.1% other)

GE mail ballot requests: 1,782,580 (51.2% white/31.4% black/6.6% asian or hispanic/10.8% other)

Yeah, in just a few days, White has now gone from 53.6% to 53.0% and Black from 31.2% to 31.6%.

It seems like the trend may be starting to slow down, it only went down from 53.0% to 52.9% white today with not many more requests reported. However, maybe that is a weekend reporting effect, perhaps a number of counties don't report as much on the weekend?:

Race    Count    Percent
Non-Hispanic White    648,865    52.9
Non-Hispanic Black    388,301    31.6
Hispanic    26,738    2.2
Non-Hispanic Asian American    39,727    3.2
Non-Hispanic Native American    1,663    0.1
Other/Multiple/Unknown    111,165    9.1
TOTAL    1,227,285    100.0

Slight further improvement despite weekend reporting seemingly being delayed. There are literally only about 2k new ballot requests reported today, but that is enough to drop the White share another tenth of a percent and increase the black share another tenth of a percent, because more of the new requests that were reported are actually from Black than from White voters:

Race    Count    Percent
Non-Hispanic White    649,897    52.8
Non-Hispanic Black    389,461    31.7
Hispanic    26,787    2.2
Non-Hispanic Asian American    39,805    3.2
Non-Hispanic Native American    1,666    0.1
Other/Multiple/Unknown    111,423    9.1
TOTAL    1,229,917    100.0

porno hitman rallying in Georgia for senator LOLeffler? That’s nice.

Just curious- is a porno hitman someone who looks like a cross between a hitman & pornstar, or someone who hates the porn industry?

I get that in general this forum doesn't like Crenshaw, but regardless of whether you like him or not, the add is good in the sense it is engaging to those voters who need to be engaged and turn out for the GOP.

Crenshaw's bait is tempting I will say, but once you see his warmongering desire he is not a very good person.

Let's hope not- the people who would be engaged by it are the type that wouldn't get that it's a parody! ...but in so much as they are the target- you're probably correct (although I thought the British voice was a bit odd- Are his orders coming from MI5?)

I hope republicans hold these seats - they probably will they need the same turnout machine like in November and that won't happen just to squeeze by with 10k votes.

I can give you an Extra Special Georgia Guarantee that exactly zero Georgia voters were persuaded by this ad, either to switch their vote or to turn out.

A disproportionate number of them are Native American, in fact.

The Braves haven't announced a name change, but it's definitely an argument that Lqeffler and Perdue have that puts them in agreement with the majority of Georgians.

Hope it doesn't flip many voters though. The people who vote so casually that they'll base it on whether a baseball team changes its name (something that has nothing to do with the US Senate) are probably not going to be particularly likely to turn out for a runoff.

U.S. Senators feeling a need to involve themselves in what's a private business matter? Sounds like socialism to me.

They just released this statement just to release it. The Braves have not indicated a name change at all and this isn't a thing. Perdue and Loeffler are just thirsty to find anything to salivate their rabid, brain dead base.

Most of these Counties (Ossoff's Planned stops) have a high % of minorities.  I actually think Ossoff & Warnock can have more impact visiting the South Georgia counties & especially the rural counties.  Most of these rural counties have a significant amount of Dems who are probably less motivated to turn out for the runoff- But if the Dem Senate candidates came to their rural counties a time or two, it could likely make a big difference in ginning up enough excitement to have a real impact on turning out low-propensity-runoff Dems. (and Trump has shown that when you add all of the rural counties together- their small populations can have a big impact).

I hope Warnock will also be doing some south Georgia Swings.

It makes sense considering that these places have a substantial share of black voters

Also the smaller cities like Columbus, Athens, and Kavanaugh are a major part of what helped to deliver GA to Biden. Yes Atlanta played a huge role, but Atlanta by itself isn't enough by itself the way Chicago or NYC is.

Yeah, I'm very glad to see that Ossoff/Warnock team has clearly studied where Biden's win came from so that they can replicate as much as possible

Democrats did well in early voting and mail-ins going by county data but again it's a real fools game trying to read into these results.

It would appear (so far) that the black electorate is very energized and aware of the race.

The Senate is set to push this flimsy 900B stimulus with no direct payments, backlash in the Mcconnell Leadership in 2021/, but D's are at fault to, no direct payments no Act blue donations. I haven't gotten one email to donate

Congress especially Mcconnell don't think people need direct payments which is silly

That's why 2022 is gonna be a good, not bad year, McConnell once and for all with WI, PA and NC needs to be dethroned as MAJORITY Leader, for good

Is this turnout good for Dems? I mean, the election nationwide showed us benefits from high turnout isn't a one-way street for Dems. I'm particulary interested in opinions from GA posters.

Black voters are 32.8 percent of the mail in ballots requested and 33 percent of the votes cast. The answer is yes.

I know this is an unpopular take, but if Warnock and Ossoff win in January, NH/AZ/NV (and maybe even one solid blue state like IL/OR/MD/VT) all flip before GA in 2022. While it’s true that technically this isn’t a ‘Biden midterm’ yet, there’s not much reason to treat a high-turnout election which will decide Senate control in what we know will be a Biden administration as less indicative of the state's political future (both in 2022 and beyond) than a 2022 Senate race.
