Of course we should make mail in voting as reliable as possible but I have a radical idea on how make sure your vote counts, VOTE IN PERSON IF YOU CAN.  If you are not in a high risk group put on a mask, wash your hands and go vote in person. We all go to grocery store. A lot of us still go to work outside the house. Going to a polling place is no worse than what most of us are still doing all the time.

What legal means are there to block Trump and DeJoy from destroying the Post ?

Could the Supreme Court weigh in during the next months to order a cash infusion or is the Post almost 100% a matter of the President and/or Congress and if they don’t act or in Trump’s case, wants to destroy it, nothing is possible to stop it ?

If the official Postal Service of a country gets deliberately sabotaged to win Trump’s re-election, then the postal voters should be able to drop off their ballots at every FedEx, DHL, UPS, GLS etc. store in the US for delivery !

For reference, here's what parties control in each state:



The state shading is the governor, the bubble is the designated replacement for the governor (in most states, lieutenant governor). In VT, the lieutenant governor identifies as a progressive and not a Democrat, which is why I used an off shade of blue.

The statewide filling is the control of the state senate, the bubble is state house. In the AK state house, the majority is a coalition, made up of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, and therefore it is not shaded either way.

Supreme Court Composition (Liberal/Conservative):



(NH is a 2-2 tie, NJ is 3-1-3, though you could argue it's a conservative majority because the Independent was appointed by a Republican, and AR was just weird to figure out because of conservative Dems and party switchers but seemed to end in a tie)

It basically just the postal service telling the states that ballots that were put in the mail a day or two before election day might not arrive by the deadlines the states have set. States should change their laws to allow for the counting of ballots that were postmarked on or before election day

I think what they're saying is that the deadlines to request ballots may be too late for the voters to receive them in time.  Here in Georgia, you can request an absentee ballot as late as the Friday before the election (the application must be received by the county election office by then).  It's very possible that ballots mailed out on applications arriving that late wouldn't be delivered before the following Tuesday.

If you're going to vote by mail, request your ballot as early as possible, and return it as early as possible (by mail if necessary, or preferably to a ballot dropbox or hand delivery to the election office).

This is an excellent example of why a free and active press is essential to a functioning democracy.  The publicity generated by the reporting of the removals is undoubtedly why they've been suspended.  Without it, they would have quietly continued.

It's also why we should be glad that DeJoy and Trump are being so brazen about this whole gambit, it offers the opportunity to mitigate everything they are doing as they are doing it as best as possible. If this were to have been kept a secret somehow it would be a whole lot worse.
