This is a letter I received today, a receipt for a political contribution I made that's refundable under Minnesota law. It had to be delivered twice, to my legal address and then where it was forwarded.

The stamp says August 3, so it took 8 days to go to both places. It also appears it was mailed from Minneapolis and not St. Cloud. So arguably that was long for a mailing in the same city at first, but barely over a week is not a slowdown that would impact many ballots.

Awaiting more mail to note the dates.

Taylor Swift is a 30-year old woman from a fairly educated part of Pennsylvania and whose life experiences are definitely more comparable to someone with a college degree and would most certainly have one if she didn't blow up and lived a normal life.

Reading? It's fundamental, but it isn't known as a hub of college educated elites... considering the city itself is one of the least-educated areas of Pennsylvania with high high school dropout rates. Even West Reading has 10% fewer bachelor's-educated as a percent of its population than Pennsylvania as a whole. Berks County is nothing like Delco or Montco. Absolutely silly.  

Wyomissing. Over 50% of residents have a bachelor's degree. Almost a quarter have a master's.

What's to stop them from doing the same thing two weeks or so before the election?

After the vast majority of mail in ballots have been cast? People know about this now, so they'll be mailing out ballots ASAP.

I'm skeptical of this as it's illegal for Census collected data to be used for any non-statistical purpose or shared with other federal agencies, much less states. A state linking voter registration to Census participation not only would make no sense considering how many people move in ten years, it wouldn't even he possible as the states have no access to it.

So I received my ballot yesterday and it was postmarked September 25 so it appears the mail slowdown has actually not had a big impact on absentee ballots.

Depends on where you are.  My family requested our ballots early on the Georgia portal, and the tracker says they were "issued" on Sep. 18.  They haven't arrived as of yesterday, so I called the county elections office and they said to give it until Friday because they'd mailed over 30K ballots (county population: 244K) on Sep. 18/19, and the local post office was "overwhelmed" (their word).

Same date actually for me. It was "issued" on Sept 18 but the volume is so high it took awhile to send them out.

It's not all bad though, votes already cast or received in the next two days without a witness signature will still be counted. Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch wanted to require those to be recast.

Wonder if this will impact other states. Minnesota waived the signature requirement but that was different, state officials wanted to and the Republicans' lawsuit to reinstate was shot down. In SC the state still wanted it and the Democrats sued to waive it.

Basically the Twitter OP is saying there's issues here but claiming 11% of all mail ballots in NC have been rejected is incorrect sensationalism and that's not even the case in Guilford County.

I honestly wouldn't vote by mail at this point.  The Republicans are clearly trying to get all these new rules and regulations written so they can ex-post-facto invalidate votes already cast or votes of people who aren't keeping up with the ever-changing requirements for your vote to be counted.

Just vote early, in-person.  Don't let the Republicans get away with it.

The good news is that the South Carolina case indicates that Roberts and Kavanaugh aren't willing to invalidate votes already cast...although who knows about Republican hack state Supreme Courts.

I still dropped off my ballot in person although I received it in the mail but two weeks before election day Minnesota will mix in all mailed ballots with in person ones. They only keep them separate now in case someone wants to change their vote.

Don't you have to vote by mail because there's no other way?

I don't like this. It seems to suggest that the SC will generally side with republicans in their generalized efforts to suppress the vote. And what effects will this have in other more important states?

On the other hand, it also seems to suggest that Roberts and Kavanaugh will not outright just toss ballots, which I guess is some kind of comfort for the inevitable post-election judicial battles. Disappointed in Gorsuch though, it's been known that Thomas and Alito are partisan hacks, but had hoped that Gorsuch was more sensible.

Gorsuch's reasoning is probably that he thinks there should be next to no federal control of elections at all and have them ne entirely up to state officials. So if South Carolina officials want to require a witness signature and make it retroactive it's not the feds' business to tell them otherwise.

That might be different if the state officials are actually allowing something though especially if it's after the election.

Wisconsin has already hit 20% of 2016 turnout and almost 50% of all ballots requested have already been returned so I think it's safe to say that Democrats aren't waiting until the end to mail in their ballots nor is the Biden campaign encouraging that.
