Ukraine: Inside the spies’ attempts to stop the war

A free BBC article about the efforts of the American-Anglo intelligence community and how the information was publicly utilized to try and stop the war or at the very least least prevent false flag operations by Russia being viewed as plausible.

The gist is that the A-A community had lost credibility over Iraq so they were still being viewed skeptically by many European countries, however, their public accuracy made it easier to rally European sentiment for Ukraine.
George Bush Jr's decision to randomly invade a country and blame 'intelligence failures' for his manufactured pretext will haunt us for a generation.

Stop comparing our invasion to the Russian one . Suddam Hussain was actually an evil dictator and did have WMD’s at one point even if he didn’t in 2003

Shut up beep boop. Read the room.

So naturally Putin's Repression against Russian Anti-War activists doesn't tent to get tons of coverage (For Obvious reasons), but here's a bit of sample from OVD News Express from just the past couple dayz...

Plz Atlas Mods don't make a huge deal for simply quoting from a non-profit Russian Human Rights Organization.

I almost quit the thread and Atlas last time got "over-modded" for reporting from the Russian Underground, but really Russian Human Rights Organizations are simply trying to get the message out and are no profit centers whatsoever.

A few kilometers of no man's land captured is never going to erase the absolute humiliation of losing your flagship to a shore based battery.

“Pro Ukraine” Woodbury failed to mention to counterattack in Kherson also mentioned by the same Twitter user today. I am starting to regret defending him, his allegiances are dubious.

There has been only reports and no confirmation by him in his maps, the guy literally said it himself. It's also a village far away in the border of the oblast, so it's insignificant until it's capture has been confirmed.

Does anyone know what 'cultural genocide' is in fluent Russian? Yikes.

I wish someone would liberate her wretched head from her wretched shoulders, King Thranduil style. I mean my God this woman is openly talking about brainwashing kidnapped orphans, who's families were murdered by russian buthcers. They're going to erase these kids' memories of their homes and of their parents; God knows what other f***** up lies they are going to drill into them.

New German poll numbers. Voters are aligning with their government in opposition to a gas embargo, while at the same time opposing the government (or at least the Chancellor, since the government is in disagreement with itself here) when it comes to stronger military aid. In a bout of historical irony, voters of the formerly pacifist Greens have become the strongest supporters of strong military aid to Ukraine.

Infratest dimap for ARD-Deutschlandtrend (conducted 04/11 and 04/12, released 04/14)

Opinion on an immediate embargo on Russian oil and gas
Support 40%
Oppose 48%

Support broken down by party affiliation
Greens 58%
SPD 44%
FDP 44%
CDU/CSU 38%
AfD 10%

Opinion on providing Ukraine with "heavy weapons" (tanks etc.)
Support 55%
Oppose 37%

Support broken down by party affiliation
Greens 72%
SPD 66%
FDP 65%
CDU/CSU 63%
AfD 20%

More Americans think the United States is responsible (somehow) for Putin invading Ukraine than do Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Brazil.  And South Africa.  So pretty much matching India.

The "somehow" is Tucker Carlson and the rest of the pro-fascist, pro-Putin right wing media figures who blame literally everyone in the world but the country that actually invaded another for no reason.

No numbers for Die Linke?

I noticed as well that they sometimes neglect to include the Left lately, presumably because as a 4% party they're too small of a pool or something.

I would assume their numbers on military aid would be similar to the AfD's, but more like SPD/CDU/FDP's on gas embargo?

It seems unlikely given how badly they are outmatched, but hopefully the remnants of the Ukrainian Navy and Sea Guard snuck a salvage team in after the Moskva sank. The Russians abandoning ship probably left some spare parts for valuable systems like the S-300 behind.

Update on the Moskva. I have my doubts on the Russian claim. We should have some satellite images in a few hours to verify how badly damaged she is. If she has only been crippled, I don't see why Ukraine won't launch another strike to finish her off.

What's really striking about that poll is the low number blaming Ukraine for the war, even in India and China. Only a small minority anywhere are swallowing Russia's propaganda wholesale.

If the Moskva does go under, it'll be the largest ship sank in combat since WWII.

Before the ship was known as the Moskva, it was originally christened as the Slava. In that sense, Slava Ukraini!

Even if this is true the Moskva is still out of commission, it would take months if not years to repair it and that's assuming Russian had access to all the parts they'd need which under sanctions they don't.

Russia is saying that the Moskva didn't sink, is only badly damaged, and is being towed back to port.

He might be pro-Ukraine, but is simping for Russia in order to humiliate Biden and the West. That's my theory. The interesting part is that there is actually no way of telling at this time how our policies towards Russia were to change if Biden or his surrogate lost. If Trump gets re-elected, what would happen would be obvious. If a relatively normal neocon R wins in 2024, it might be totally the opposite of what would happen if Trump won.

I mean I understand he wants his side of the aisle to come out on top, but I don't think the outcome of this war really matters in terms of that.

At this point, the only thing that will matter in 2024 is if inflation is at 10-20% or if inflation is 2-3%.

It was also built in Mykolaiv Shipyard, along with its two sister ships. One of those, now called the Varyag, was originally named Chervona Ukraina meaning Red Ukraine. Combine the two old names and we get Slava Ukraina!
