New Loeffler ad: "More conservative than Attila the Hun"

Note that, for some reason, this isn't an attack ad.

The scribe translates one of Attila's grunts as orders to "fight China"....I guess they confused Attila the Hun with Genghis Khan?

All this bullsh*t may help Loeffler win the primary, but she is going to keep pushing away any chance of getting moderates in the runoff.

Split-ticket voting is almost nil in Georgia. Loeffler is far better off doing in Doug Collins' campaign and hoping the fundamentals give her a January win than treating a jungle primary like a general election.

So just looking through the numbers, Loeffler + Collins seems to be polling higher than Perdue. Is some kind of random noise, or are there some Ossoff-Loefller voters out there for some reason? Why is anyone splitting their ticket at all, much less in this direction?

I have a friend who lives in Georgia and this is how he's voting (in addition to Libertarian for president)
...but why?

So, basically he likes Ossoff a lot. However, he also doesn't want to see Democrats take control of the Senate, so he's going to vote for Loeffler/Collins in the other race. He lived in Ohio in 2016 and voted for Trump, then moved to Georgia in 2017 and voted for Abrams and John Lewis in 2018.

Am I confused? Yes. He's an interesting guy politically.

Clearly, Loeffler is a scholar lending her support to the idea that the Huns were the descendants of the Xiongnu, who fought China in earlier ancient times.

Which voters out there consider Attila the Hun to be a praiseworthy leader? Or Genghis Khan, for that matter? Intuitively it seems like the Roman Empire and Christendom would be more advantageous comparisons to make if you're dead set on appealing to conservative CK3 players for whatever reason.

I am a single-issue voter and that single issue is the candidates' position on whether the sacking of Italy by Attilla, the scourge of God, was a good thing.

If both races go to a runoff, would the two seats stay vacant at the start of the 117th Congress? And when would the winner be sworn in?

Who is this going to appeal to? I doubt that hicks would know about Attila the Hun.

It will appeal to conservative Age of Empires II players who played the Attila the Hun campaign

Remember when Kemp picked Loeffler as the acceptable suburban moderate?

Yes, and as soon as possible after the results were certified.

EDIT: it was pointed out downthread that Loeffler's term does not expire on Jan. 3.  So the situation is:

Perdue's seat would be vacant between Jan. 3 and the time the runoff results are certified, but Loeffler would remain in hers.

Both winners would be seated once the runoff results are certified.

I was never a big fan of AOE2 campaigns but the original AOE2 metagame was completely dominated by the huns.  DE has added a bit more balance.

I have a feeling a lot of people think Attila the Hun was a semi-mythical figure along the lines of King Arthur or Robin Hood, rather than an actual historical person whose existence and actions are well-attested.

Most people think Attila the Hun is Genghis Khan, and that Genghis Khan is "badass guy on a horse who took over the world."

Yes, and as soon as possible after the results were certified.

Actually, the Perdue seat would, but Loeffler would continue to hold her seat since it's a special election & the seat's term doesn't end on January 3rd.

Good point.  For some reason I was thinking Isakson's term expired this year.

What's the logic of scheduling a runoff election for after the start of the next Congress, necessitating a vacancy? I suppose the date changed, too, since Saxby was reelected in a December runoff and thus could remain in office without interruption.

Would Kemp be allowed to appoint a temporary replacement starting January 3?

Warnock winning outright on election day further complicates a lame duck SCOTUS vote.

The Lieberman family is really the GOP gift that keeps on giving.
