Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson, 74, fell yesterday.

Isakson was not really in good health to begin with, I can see him pulling a Thad Cochran, resigning, Gov. Kemp appointing a GA Republican in a 2020 special with the original 2020 Senate election.

Yeah, he's been in rough shape for a while. I think it's likely Georgia has two senate elections next year.

Democrats could win 2 Georgia Senate seats....if the cards are right.....black turnout, etc., a Harris on the ticket.

I hope he's okay.

Of course this is a possibility for Democrats to get 2 senate seats, which could very well determine the balance of the senate, but let's wait and see if he recovers before talking like he's already resigned.

I feel bad, my dad had other thoughts which I will just say would definitely be moderated.

Hope he recovers. He’s the more tolerable of the Senators.

Georgia has been a recruiting failure so far I'm not sure another seat opening up would be much of an opportunity.

Oh please. No one was even checking for Stacey Abrams before the last weeks of the election and she had an incredible performance. Low profile candidates can build a profile and an infrastructure to make the 2020 race competitive.

Karen Handel would be a great appointee if Isakson resigned. She is a fantastic candidate...for Democrats to run against that is.

LOL, most political ''experts'' had moved the race to ''tossup'' by october 2018

Sure Tomlinson isn't fundraising big league atm, but don't you think it's way too early to call Georgia a recruitment failure?

Hope he’s okay. I’m surprised he didn’t resign before Deal left office. I’d have thought they would both be pragmatic enough to pick his replacement together if God forbid something were to happen to him in the interim. I could only imagine the nutcase Kemp would pick.

I hope he's okay as well. I'm a bit surprised that he didn't retire in 2016, though.

Falls aren’t good when you’re that age. Here’s hoping he’s well enough to serve out his term.

Ossoff v. Handel: The Rematch

Why would Dems nominate Ossoff?

They wouldn't -- it's about as likely as the Repubs nominating Handel

Holcomb is probably too white and male for Georgia Democrats.

White? x
Male? x
Heterosexual? x

My guess is that he retires in early 2021, allowing his successor some incumbency before the 2022 election
