Thrilled to see that Trump is wasting time and resources in a safe state.

The more Trump reaches out to minorities, and the more minorities that join the Trump Train, will cause a domino effect in other states. Just because Trump rallied in a deep blue part of the country doesn’t mean it won’t have ramifications nationwide….

There were a handful of minorities in the crowd but it looked mostly like more of the same Trump crowd. And no one cares about this. People will forget about this rally two days from now.

It can be hard to tell whites and latinos apart from distant shots but based on the images I saw, the crowd seemed to be predominantly Hispanic.

Lot of latinos are “white” lol. Never understood the idea that being Hispanic is automatically associated with being brown or something.

It's a culture not a color. White Latinos and brown Latinos can share the same culture.

Well? You obviously want lifelong Presidents now in an overwhelming majority. So, should we drop any age requirement whatsoever?

No. If the American people want to elect a 90-year-old, why shouldn't we let them?

Yet, I'm sure you're in favor of age limits for the SC, and not in favor of overturning the 22nd.

If Robinson does win it would be because Stein came off across as too liberal for the state. Someone like Roy Cooper or possibly Jeff Jackson would have much better odds of winning this race.

No, it's because Robinson was a stronger candidate than people realized. He won the Lieutenant Governor's race a few years ago on the same ballot as Cooper, after all.

Hmm, right... So no chance of happening what is quite common in other European countries, where the incumbent PM remains as caretaker but the party in power presents another candidate.

Yeap.

The only way the Conservatives get a new leader for the upcoming election, is if Sunak gets booted out by this Wednesday night.

Instead of banking on court packing or waiting for some of them to die - maybe it's better to just create a culture of paranoia that paralyzes the court.
Any other creepy authoritarian ideas you have? Curious what else you'd love done to force your politics on others.

I think it would be brilliant to make conservatives on the court so miserable and uncomfortable that they resign.

I mean, that sounds like a form of social terrorism designed to force left wing views on the Court. Why stop at the Court, in that case? It seems you're not okay with people of different views being allowed to have them. So let's hear some more ideas Smiley

the problem is that our electoral system is inherently a violation of the 14th and 1st amendments. The democratic party has effectively been blacklisted from power due to senate malapportionment and the fact that dem-controlled senates allowed republican nominees in, only to have the door slammed in there face when the shoe was on the other foot. So thus, blowing the whole system up metaphorically, is the only way to fight back.

No, Jacobin. And I hope any who deign to follow Robespierre meet the same ending.

Not every ten years, but I think a big one-time redraw would be great. We don't need two Dakotas and even if we did, it should be East/West instead of North/South.

Alt text: A schism between the pro-panhandle and anti-panhandle factions eventually led to war, but both sides spent too much time working on their flag designs to actually do much fighting.

How tf did I forget about the Florida panhandle? Of course that should belong to Alabama.

If this wasn't the result you were expecting, you haven't been paying attention. I do remember mentioning somewhere that trying to use the 14th Amendment is a huge mistake with this Court. This decision is probably worse than I expected. The fact that it was Alito opinion should tell you exactly where this Court is. There is no liberal cause that can be advanced through this Supreme Court by using the 14th Amendment. We're lucky enough as it is that Roberts and Kavanaugh did what they did with the Southern VRA districts.

If you want to see how bad things can get, look at the Thomas concurrence. He definitely is not the only Justice to believe in overturning Baker v. Carr and its progeny.
