So we will now have a Republican Primary between Mike Rogers and Peter Meijer. Fantastic Outcome as both can give Slotkin a real run for her money this fall.

That maybe true but consensus is that either Rogers or Meijer have an even better chance.

Both Rogers and Meijer are terrible candidates with no chance of winning (especially Meijer).
Without Craig in the race, I'd put this off the map.

How could he have won when his fundraising was at "can he continue to pay rent on his campaign headquarters" level bad?

Rogers is a pretty solid candidate. He represented the same area as Slotkin and thus cancels out her regional advantage. That being said, if Rogers were to win in November, his coalition would be more suburban friendly than Trump, winning Kent county, and doing better in Oakland as well. John James was less "MAGA" than Trump, but came closer to winning than him against  Gary Peters who was considered to be a star with wwc voters. Assuming Rogers is the nominee, I would probably move this to tossup.

Rogers has been out of office almost a decade now. He’ll dent Stolkin’s regional advantage, but not by much. It’ll also be interesting to see how/if he has changed to fit the modern Republican Party.

On the one hand, aesthetically Craig was perfect. On the other hand, if he was that horrible at actually campaigning, he would have stood no chance against Slotkin.

Rogers is certainly underwhelming and leaves much to be desired, but he's a much stronger candidate than the two hedge fund managers(McCormick/Hovde), so I still think MI is still viable for the GOP. He probably needs Trump to win MI though.

Yeah Craig would not have a run a good campaign if he was so incompetent at the very basics. He could've easily gotten the nomination in MI-Gov 22 and MI-Sen 24 if he wasn't a disaster. Him dropping out now is a sign that an actual campaign would not have succeeded.

Craig is among the most disappointing Republican "rising stars" of the decade, alongside Majewski in neighboring Ohio.

Majewski was never a “rising star”. He was a weirdo that painted a Trump sign into his yard.

Being a trump cultist weirdo is a prerequisite to being a rising star in the GOP

Reminder that Meijer is also running on the GOP side. That's a division of not just the anti-Trumpist vote, but also the Grand Rapids Dutch/Religious/Old Guard conservatives. Without the party rolling over for one of them - not gonna happen with Rodgers - this just means mutually assured destruction.

Yeah I like both- which is terrible news for them in the primary.

Also does Rodgers (somehow) win the Trump lane here, by default?

Who even is in the Trumpist lane in the primary? Rogers hardly seems it given his anti-Trump rhetoric up until the minute he ran for Senate.

It was James Craig, but we all know how that turned out.

Pulling for Meijer or Amash to get this, though not optimistic about their chances.
