If everyone is happy, I propose to keep this thread going as the UK General Discussion thread after the new PM is chosen. Otherwise we will clog the board with new threads each week we change PM.

So, how will history remember Liz Truss?

It won't.

That came really quickly, though not fully unexpected. BoJo returning to power would be absolutely hilarious!

Funny though is that despite her short tenure, Liz Truss had two different monarchs, which very few other prime ministers can claim.

So weak. They need to take a page from Republicans. Trump and co. would have fought till' the bitter end.

Hitler quote guy accidentally stumbled into a good point here- while this whole saga has been hilarious and amazing to watch, it also shows a strength of the British political system that the American (and honestly the Israeli) systems don't have. If you f**k up really, really, really badly, the party could actually force you out. Even longtime figures such as Churchill and Thatcher couldn't do what they want with their party. The party doesn't serve them. That's a good thing.

She will be the answer to the question "Who was the Prime Minister when Elizabeth II died?" and nothing more.

Covering up for Pincher on sexual assault is obviously disqualifying, but Boris would be the correct choice if the goal is sheer absurdist entertainment value.

She will be the answer to the question "Who was the Prime Minister when Elizabeth II died?" and nothing more.

And "Who had the shortest tenure as Prime Minister?". Actually it's quite a neat juxtaposition - the shortest serving Prime Minister was the last of the longest reigning Monarch.

There were a couple of PMs who spent less time in post due to failure to form a government.

Conventionally they aren't counted: it is said that they were appointed to form a ministry and failed to do so.

He'll say that the problem wasn't the tax cuts themselves in a vacuum, it was pairing them with a massive unfunded energy subsidy, so this does nothing to disprove libertarianism, and he'll be correct.
