Is it fair to say Hawley and Cruz are screwed as far as 2024?

I’d like to think so but it is the GOP so...

I love that these are being treated like something Trump could heist and physically snatch the election.

The Writers have avoided outright McGuffins so far, so we can let them get away with this one.

Defund the Police.

They were outnumbered, and wanted to go home to their families. It's the same reason they had to stand by and let mobs of looters pic department stores clean rather than trying to arrest a mob that outnumbered them 10 to 1.

There's a time and a place in law enforcement for hard overwhelming force. And I genuinely hope it comes in the next hour or two

Have you been paying attention at all this past year?
It's a stark difference based in ideology and skin color prejudices.

I think this is a turning point... or some sort. Either one away from division or the catalyst of a higher level of division.

Is it possible the GOP fractures? It seems Pence and Trump are leading their own wings at this point.

Same answer as to what the 'electoral consequences' of today are.

They can still win the primary, but I'm sure they would lose to any Democrat in the general.

Don’t think so. Sadly, nobody will care about this four years from now.

Never say never, but I do think based on anecdotes that this has seriously damaged their reputations among a general electorate.

I despised Cruz from long before this, and I am certainly not even entertaining the thought of voting for Hawley now. At this point, I may vote for Kamala Harris (who I still dislike) against any plausible Republican nominee in 2024. I certainly would vote for Biden again if he runs for reelection.

Meanwhile in LA...

If there's one thing history has shown, it's don't mess with the LAPD. I suppose MAGA-stans are learning that the hard way.

Forgive me if I'm not as optimistic are you about the LAPD

Police is always right-wing everywhere, with some fascist leanings. The treatment given to left-wing and black people is extremely different than the one given to right-wing and white ones. The latter demands are usually aligned with their interests.

Rep. Lucy McBath just called for the 25th amendment to be activated. First swing state Rep.

Josh Hawley has never come across to me as a very intelligent person.

Intelligent people have been self-sorting out of the GOP for 30 years.

Probably safe. She will get a sink after GA redistricting.

They've made fools of themselves. This is the formal end of the MAGA movement.

Hopefully this is the pathetic end of something, and not the beginning.

I'm really worried for the Inauguration. They need to check security guidelines.

The inauguration needs to be 100% closed to the public.

I've never said this phrase before, but if so, the terrorists win.

I didn't mean that to be positive about the LAPD, but only as a reference to the department's known propensity to use force.

Josh Hawley has never come across to me as a very intelligent person.

Really? He comes across to me as a very intelligent individual, whose actions and words are carefully calculated to pander to the Trump wing of the party in order to jumpstart his 2024 bid for the presidency.

Let's dispel with this notion that Hawley doesn't know what he's doing... etc
