Sununu is getting a Honeymoon, Hassan will be Reelected next yr if the the PVI is 2 or better and since D's won the PVi by 3 last time, it's likely to happen again in 2022

Scott Brown was leading Shaheen, before 2014, lol its not Safe R unless Rs lead on PVI and they haven't won the PVI since 2016

NH is a weird state, it's a VBM Election and D's are very lucky in VBM Elections because they can loosely count provisional ballots

I was an Election judge from 2004-2012 I know about provisional ballots

Rs act like NH is AL where Doug Jones lost by 60 percent to 40 percent, it's not, it's not voter suppression

The reason why Collins won was she won every race she had and Sununu is not Collins

I overheard in a hipster coffee shop that Maggie Hassan made a troubling speech at a recent Democratic convention. She said, "My fellow Americans I HATE men!... (Lots of cheers)... I AM ANGRY TOO! For far too long the males have dominated our land for far too long. Women are people too! We don't need a man in our sh*t! On day one we deport those damn men! I mean look at them, they stole our jobs and crap like that. On day 1 I promise to deport anyone that is a male. I shall give them the option of a gender reassignment surgery or face a deportation. I also call for the formation of a female only party. I made my campaign manager get a sex change even! Look folks, I want this country to be all female. Females are awesome. I am awesome. My opponents aren't though! Look at the GOP nominees, Alex Jones and Roger Stone are terrible men and don't deserve to be Americans because they act like Americmen! *Audience gasps at her magnificent brilliance* We need Americwomen! I will hereby proclaim that there shall be a no men policy. I love America! *Walks off stage throwing her podium on the ground to symbolize dropping a mic*"

I think if Hassan had picked better and more inclusive choices of words and hadn't said, "My fellow Americans I HATE men!... (Lots of cheers)... I AM ANGRY TOO! For far too long the males have dominated our land for far too long. Women are people too! We don't need a man in our sh*t! On day one we deport those damn men! I might donate in Summer of 2022, but Ds need to get their state by state numbers up not Biden approvals to prove to me they absolutely can win

That's why in a Covid Environment, Elections can be unpredictable, you have days, D's are flying high and then you get HASSAN polls, no sir I am not in rush to donate

Republican messaging against Maggie Hassan: Be more like Joe Manchin!

Quote
The NRSC cited a CQ Roll Call vote comparison report from Monday that found, 98 times out of 100, Hassan voted with Schumer.

Hassan and her communications staff declined to respond when asked about her voting record. However, some political observers say the charge of partisanship means less at a time when both parties are polarized and true bipartisan lawmaking is rare.

“I’ve got two words for that,” says GOP strategist Patrick Griffin. “‘Joe Manchin.’ There is no reason Hassan couldn’t be doing what Manchin is doing right now — confronting the far-left in her party and using her leverage to push back on issues like gun control or tax hikes or protecting New Hampshire’s elections.”

https://nhjournal.com/hassans-claims-of-bipartisanship-undermined-by-98-percent-partisan-voting-record/

These are the people in the war room of the most powerful political party in the world.

Also, paging TiltsAreUnderrated:

Quote
Hassan, on the other hand, insists she’s a Democrat who works across the aisle. So much so that, in the past month, her office sent out twenty-four press releases featuring the word “bipartisanship” — four of them in just one three-day period alone:

Senator Hassan, Colleagues Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Support and Expand Regional Greenhouse Gas Reduction Programs

Senators Hassan, Tillis Lead Colleagues in Introducing Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Veterans Service Organizations for Their Support to Veterans Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Senators Hassan, Ernst Lead Bipartisan, Bicameral Effort to Increase Access to Child Care for Working Families

Senator Hassan Joins in Introducing Bipartisan Bill to Strengthen Treatment and Recovery Services for Incarcerated Individuals [emphasis added].

Source: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/551595-sununu-seen-as-top-recruit-in-gop-bid-to-reclaim-senate

Quote
Pressure is mounting for New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) to challenge Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) for her seat in next year’s midterm elections as Republicans seek to take back control of the Senate in 2022.
Quote
Sununu sailed to reelection as governor in 2020, winning roughly 65 percent of the vote, despite former President Trump losing the state by 7 points. Roughly seven months later, the governor’s approval rating remains high, with a recent University of New Hampshire survey putting it at 69 percent.
Quote
“If Gov. Sununu decides to run for Senate, I think he would be the No. 1 Republican recruit in the country,” said veteran New Hampshire GOP strategist Jim Merrill.
Quote
“The political cemetery is filled with folks who underestimated Maggie Hassan,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley.

But Republicans say Hassan will be tied to Democratic leadership in Washington going into 2022, painting her as a member of the far left.
Quote
Polling shows that a Hassan-Sununu race stands to be tight. A UNH survey released in February showed Sununu leading Hassan 48 percent to 46 percent, within the margin of error.

A Morning Consult tracking poll shows an even wider gap in their approval ratings. Seventy-three percent of New Hampshire voters said they approved of Sununu, while 55 percent said they approved of Hassan.

I didn’t realize Hassan had a high approval as well. No shocker about Sununu’s. If they are both popular, it’s anyone’s guess who wins, but edge Sununu.

Morning Consult always inflates elected official's "approval ratings," especially (but not exclusively) when it’s Democrats. Her approval ratings are a lot less rosy in other polls.

Anyway, not sure this even warranted its own article. While Sununu would obviously be a top recruit for the GOP, I also don’t buy that he’s going to immediately shift this race three categories to the right, i.e., that Hassan would have been pretty much safe without him or, conversely, that this would be way better a pick-up opportunity than AZ/NV solely because of Sununu's candidate quality. This state has been an uphill battle for any Republican at the federal level for quite some time now, and while I do expect a (moderate) rightward shift in NH under Biden, the party still has a pretty deep hole to climb out of here, with not much of a reliable, R-trending base area to max out like in ME. Don’t lose sight of the fundamentals.

The only reason state that Rs have a good chance in is GA Hassan was at 55% in the last Change poll with Evers and Nelson, INCUMBENTs don't lose with 50%. Warnock is below 50% due to runoff

Remember Scott Brown, another popular moderate he lost on Election day due to SHAHEEN winning with 50% of the vote on Election night, she was below it much of 2014

Does Sununu even want to be the guy who puts the nutjob national GOP back in power?  He strikes me as at least a half-decent human being; if I were him, I’d just chill in my state with my high approval rating as Governor.

He’s a Republican, of course he wants to see a Republican Senate. Look no further than how he, Baker and Hogan all endorsed and made ads for Republican Senate candidates last year.

Do you think Sununu could have beat Shaheen in 2020? The ticket-splitting was ginormous. I think him waiting until 2022 was the right call.
