Ah, I love this time of the year. Mistakes by election workers immediately treated as a grand conspiracy by political operatives and activists (and POTUS now, I guess?) acting either out of stupidity and/or bad faith.

If the administration/PA Republicans now want to throw out the secrecy envelope requirement, I'm all for that, but I'm also allowed to be incensed by their hypocrisy.

The County Manager's statement (the embedded pic) is good, and worth reading.

Hey Republicans who want this to be your big "whatabout" conspiracy theory:  Note how the professional, well-trained nonpartisan officials involved in this story are taking this issue super-seriously and providing full accountability and regular updates to get to the bottom of what happened.  Over nine ballots!  But that's how it's done in blue states.

Do you think that'll happen in red states when there are discrepancies that inevitably favor Republicans?  Noooooooooooooope

Why go through the trouble of covertly suppressing votes when they can rig it openly?

Project Veritas has such a long history of deception that anything associated with them should automatically be considered suspect.  They'd be a prime candidate for a real-world Ignore button.

So I received my ballot yesterday and it was postmarked September 25 so it appears the mail slowdown has actually not had a big impact on absentee ballots.

Depends on where you are.  My family requested our ballots early on the Georgia portal, and the tracker says they were "issued" on Sep. 18.  They haven't arrived as of yesterday, so I called the county elections office and they said to give it until Friday because they'd mailed over 30K ballots (county population: 244K) on Sep. 18/19, and the local post office was "overwhelmed" (their word).

Same date actually for me. It was "issued" on Sept 18 but the volume is so high it took awhile to send them out.

Not a single thing left anymore that the Republican Party will not corrupt or break completely in order to squeeze out even a tiny advantage in an upcoming election. Good job, folks. Really showing us how much you care about the 'integrity' of our elections, as you so often say in order to justify more restrictions on voting.

Also, lol:

Quote
Several states contacted by TIME were unaware of the change-of-address problem. Officials in Minnesota, for one, sent out their ballot applications by mail earlier in September based partly on information drawn from the faulty database in August, the state’s election officials say. Other states had to delay sending out their ballots as they scrambled to fix incorrect addresses. At least 43 states plus the District of Columbia use the USPS change of address database. Many, like Minnesota, face close presidential contests, including Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
