Evers is very popular:

Popular but definitely not like Desantis or even Brian Kemp who I would call very popular.

WI Supreme Court race poll (conducted by Restoration PAC, a partisan pollster): Kelly (R) +7, leading Karofsky (D) 36/29.

Wow, so Senator Risser is apparently the longest serving state legislator in American history.

Also, I sure as hell hope I look that good if I reach 92 years of age. He can easily pass for being in his 70s.

The primary isn't the only election on April 7. There are judicial, municipal, school board, and local referendum elections taking place where it is their general election as mandated by the state supreme court. The biggest being the State Supreme Court and Mayor of Milwaukee, I'm not sure Evers has the authority to move it any more than Trump could move the general election in November. Even if he did the Republicans in the state legislature would totally challenge the move to the State Supreme Court.

Not a whole lot of choices since Republicans want the election to go on as they believe turnout will be significantly depressed in urban (aka Democratic-leaning) areas, allowing them to maintain their current 5 - 2 state supreme court majority.

The best news right now is that absentee requests have already surpassed the 2019 spring election and are already to half of the turnout of 2016 primary (both Democrats and Republicans). The state and the Biden/Sanders campaigns just need to keep pushing people to get and submit absentee ballots.

I think Kelly wins the supreme court race due to my anxiety from last year's horrible loss. He might win by a few points, too. Sad stuff.

Voted early a few weeks ago for Karofsky, not the biggest fan of hers but hope she pulls through. It's difficult, not being allowed to campaign and all.

Literally watch Karnofsky win 85% in Dane and lose by a few points.

Either of you remember how the Kim Davis fiasco eneded up benefiting Kentucky Republicans in spite of the illegality of her actions? Evers should move the date regardless and dare the Republican court to strike it down. Either his executive order sticks, or it gets struck down and the spotlight will be on Republican obstinacy. Dems need to learn that in some stiuations grandstanding can can actually be a boon, as long as long as you are careful and stick to popular policies meant to make the other party look bad, rather than stupid unpopular stunts like government shutdowns meant more for the base. If it's early october and coronavirus still looks like it will be a concern in november, congress does not pass a vote by mail bill, and the Republican state legislatures are uncooperative, I would hope that every Democratic governor passes it through an exrcutive order and force Republicans to own every death if they resist.

How does that make sense? Someone can get their ballot now, hold on to it until April 13th, then vote and send in their ballot 6 days after the day of the election?

There's a very nice article on The Nation about Wisconsin going blue again in 2020:
How to win in Wisconsin

In practise this just shifts the election date to the 13th.
Fundamentally, an election aims to sounding the will of electors, not enforcing at any cost a meaningless date. Rigid bureaucracy is a blight on democracy.
