It's still only the first quarter, but Clemson is dominating #10 Wake Forest.

They're up 10-0, and they just got the ball back.

Georgia has gone into halftime against Charleston Southern up 49-0. Ohio State is about to go into half  up 49-0 against #7 Michigan State. So those are about equal games.

I was about to say that there's a significant difference in the level of competition...but maybe there isn't that much. Wink

Wake Forest was a nice story for a while, but it's clear they were overrated.

#5 Cincinnati (#3 AP Poll) getting the style points they need this evening, as they are dominating SMU, 34-0 almost midway through the third quarter.

If Oregon loses to Utah tonight, does Cincinnati move up, or does Notre Dame take the fourth spot with their easy win against Georgia Tech (I don't think Michigan gets back in unless they actually beat Ohio State.)

Arkansas just scored a TD on a fake field goal attempt and now trails Alabama 34-28 early in the fourth quarter.

Terrific finish in Florida-Missouri.  After Florida scored a TD in OT, Mizzou answered with their own TD, went for 2 and made it to win 24-23.

Mizzou's going bowling! So happy.

As for Illini, their bowl chances went kaput with their loss to Iowa.

Halftime in the Oregon/Utah game, and Utah leads 28-0.

Should we be talking about Cincinnati getting a spot in the top four in next week's rankings, or is it still too soon?

Unbelievable, a G5 team could make the playoffs and they're going to be P5 next year anyway.

I don't know about next week, but there's only 1 combination left that leaves a 13-0 Cincinnati out of the top 4 by the end of the season, assuming Oregon loses tonight:

Georgia (12-1), Alabama (12-1), Big 10 Champ (12-1), Big 12 Champ (12-1)

I don't think they'll put a 2 loss team in to leave Cincinnati out, and I don't think they'll put Notre Dame in if Cincinnati is out.

So if Oregon can't come back, Cincinnati is probably better than 50-50 to make it in.

I can't see Alabama beating Georgia in the SEC Championship game, so assume they also have two losses after Championship Game week.

I think the most likely final playoff combination (assuming Alabama loses to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, and Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Notre Dame all win out) is:

Georgia 13-0, Ohio State 12-1, Cincinnati 13-0, Notre Dame 11-1

With Texas and Oklahoma leaving for the SEC, the Power Five in Football will become the Power Four anyways, with the Big East essentially replacing them in Basketball.

Even if that team is Alabama, and their second loss is a nail-biter to the undisputed #1 team in the country? Notre Dame would be a bridge too far, even for the Committee, but I have faith that they'll find a way to avoid that happening.

I would love to know what sportsbooks had Utah as the favorite, because coming into that game, Oregon was the better team.

Next week: 5-6 Florida vs 5-6 Florida State

I'll be at this game, in the Florida section in Florida State colors and now it suddenly has stakes for both teams. The absolute dissolution of this Florida team is amazing. Remember, in Mullen's last three years he's taken his teams to NY6 games and almost beat Bama this year. I had the opportunity to talk to a member of the Florida Board of Governors today. On his evaluation, the university president doesn't care about football and won't push the AD (a longtime friend of Mullen and the one who hired him) to fire him. The biggest boosters haven't turned on him yet and won't if he beat FSU. The bigger problem is recruiting and not the losses on the field. Apparently a big part of the issue there is "Mullen's honesty." The word is that Kirby Smart will go to, for example, 4 QBs houses and tell them all "I think you'll start at Georgia" while Mullen will go and say "I think you'll be 3rd string at Florida," thus the issues. I haven't seen anything that'd contradict that from what I know about Mullen.

I would love to know what sportsbooks had Utah as the favorite, because coming into that game, Oregon was the better team.

I can't speak for Vegas, but for online ones Bovoda, MyBookie, OnlineBetting, Intertops, and GTBets all had Utah as 3 point favorites over Oregon.
