I personally consider this thread to have revealed the latest unfairness of many here.  Not just unfairness in one situation, but the lack of capacity to be fair to persons on the other side of your argument IN REAL LIFE, and not just on this Forum.

As many people your age have told me for years: life isn’t fair, suck it up buttercup and stop being a snowflake.

I've never told you that.  Not once.

Life ISN'T fair, but the degree of fairness people experience is directly proportional to the sense of fairness and justice people in authority over them possess.  This is a case of that.  I've worked in supervisory capacities and whatever people thought of me, people thought I was fair, and the politics of others has never been a concern.

Individuals have the power to impact the Fairness of Life.  It's a choice.  I choose to be fair.  The management of First Avenue has made another choice.

And you know that in 1996 there would be Dole truthers convinced until the bitter end that he’s about to win!
There would be blue avatars saying that there's no way a draft-dodging, weed-smoking, affair-having President who tried to impose a socialist healthcare plan on America and took people's guns away will be re-elected and that even Democrats are disgusted with Clinton.

US-built floating pier that will allow delivery of humanitarian aid has been anchored in Gaza

Quote
The floating pier that will allow for humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza from the sea has been anchored to a beach in Gaza, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

Personnel anchored the pier at about 7:40 a.m. local time, “supporting the humanitarian mission to deliver additional humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians,” CENTCOM said in a statement. The pier had traveled on Wednesday from the port of Ashdod, about 30 miles away, to the Gaza beach.

Trucks are expected to begin moving the humanitarian aid ashore in the coming days, while the United Nations will coordinate distribution within the besieged strip, CENTCOM said, adding that no US troops had entered Gaza.

The Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) system consists of two parts: the floating pier where shipments will be offloaded and the causeway to transfer the shipments to the distribution point in Gaza.

This is purely performative and won't actually help the people of Gaza.

Both parties should be censured.  If they can be fined, they should be fined as well.  And the leadership of both parties should relegate them to less politicized committees.

That, of course will not solve the problem.  Nor is this the first time we have been here.  There were fist fights and a vicious caning in the Halls of Congress leading up to the Civil War, and this is part of the process that led up to secession and the Civil War.  (Many Congressmen were living in dumpy rooming houses and heavily drinking, as DC wasn't the swinging town it is now.)

I do think that the people of North Georgia could elect a more effective advocate for their causes than MTG.  I would certainly support a primary challenger.

Yup, all these idiots should be primaried. They come from such lopsided districts, they never have to worry about a general election challenge, so there is no downside to being as batsh**t crazy as possible. Take MTG's district in general, I know North Georgia is very conservative, but I have to believe there are enough principled conservatives who realize MTG is nothing but a trouble maker and hasn't accomplished anything to make their lives better. Certainly a more sensible, pragmatic conservative would make a better alternative that these ppl could get behind? I mean, voters in NC did that with Madison Cawthorne.

1. Ive suffered from multiple chronic medical conditions for most of my life. When I have a Crohn's attack I am unable to eat food for a few days at a time. After a recent episode I was severally dehydrated and had very persistent body cramps due to electrolyte depletion. This further prevented me from eating food as it made me sick and have muscle spasms the few times I tried. In order to replenish my electrolytes, so that I could actually eat, I needed a potassium supplement that was not food based. I discovered the morons at the FDA have passed a stupid reg that potassium supplements (as in literally all you are getting is potassium, not a multi-vitamin) are illegal if each dose exceeds 2% of your daily necessary supply. There is no safety justification for this; the only reason is "derpity derpity food is a better source", which again I was physically unable to eat. That means with a bottle of potassium pills, if I wanted to get a full days required amount of a nutrient I was already starved of, I would have to take 50 pills a day. This is ridiculous. I ended up taking 30 a day with an unhealthy amount of orange juice just to get to a point where I could physically eat again and get it from food. Phuck the FDA.

2. So theres this stuff called alkaline water thats sold alongside other water at the grocery store. Normal water has a neutral PH of 7. Alkaline water has a PH of 8 or higher (there is even a brand called Ten that is PH 10). It is marketed as good to drink if you have acid reflux (which I have) as it is basic and dilutes stomach acid. There are no warnings or maximum daily recommendations. Its treated identical to water. If you google if its safe to drink, google puts up all these answers of "yes its the same as regular water". In 2023, I switched to only drinking alkaline water. A few days in, I passed out in a work meeting from severe pain and was taken to the ER. I had blood poisoning with a blood PH of 8 (anything over 7.5 is dangerous). If you change your google search to "can i only drink alkaline water" it turns out no, it will kill you. The doctor was horrified when I reported I had consumed multiple gallons in a few days, even though that was how much regular water Im recommended to drink. FDA refuses to add warnings of this or a maximum recommended daily limit because it is owned by the beverage industry. Phuck the FDA.

In both cases FDA criminal negligence nearly killed me. This bill, while pretend, needs to be implemented irl.

In other respects, though, it's actually had positive externalities, like scuttling the good relationship that Francis was implausibly trying to maintain with the pseudo-Orthodoxy that's currently en vogue in Russia.

The interesting wrinkle there is that Met. Hilarion of Budapest (formerly of Volokolamsk, a titular see belonging to the head of the Department on External Church Relations), is one of the biggest opponents of the Ukraine War in the Church in Russia and was demoted principally for questioning the regime narrative. He also is, as your CruxNow article indicates, pretty liberal on ecumenical relations and has been open to some rather bespoke concepts in that realm, e.g. reconciling with OOs while not requiring them to agree to Chalcedon. He's about as close as you can get to a genuine liberal bishop in that part of the world and if even he thinks that Fiducia Supplicans is a dealbreaker, it portends ill for developing positive relations with any of the local churches in the East.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama has been happily married to his wife Michelle for the last 33 years.

Guess who therepublicans criticized, regarding personal lives ?

Even the Clintons have been married for nearly 50 years. Despite all the turmoil.

And there is as much love in the Clinton’s’ marriage as there is in Trump and Malania’s (and like Trump and Malania, both Clintons are amoral scumbags)
