Cutting up states on ideological lines really only makes polarization worse. If Republicans now think Oregon votes like California, then you can only imagine the kinds of far-left wackos it’d be sending to the U.S. senate if it actually voted in margins more similar to Californias.

Though this too good to be true, Trump could probably win upstate New York this time around. But ai could only see him winning low double digits at best.

Given the New England polling, which is generally even with or sometimes left of 2020, I think Trump's improvement is coming almost entirely from NYC.  He's plausibly going from the 10's into the 30's in NYC.

Chief Justice Roberts declines a meeting with Senate Democrats

Quote
Chief Justice John Roberts has declined an invitation to meet with top Senate Democrats over judicial ethics, citing “separation of powers concerns.”

His letter to Sens. Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse, the chair and senior Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, comes a day after Justice Samuel Alito declined to recuse himself from two Jan. 6-related cases despite calls to do so after news reports said politically controversial flags were flown outside Alito’s properties.

Following the revelations about Alito, Durbin and Whitehouse invited Roberts to meet with them.

“I must respectfully decline your request for a meeting,” Roberts wrote. He said that “apart from ceremonial events, only on rare occasions in our Nation’s history has a sitting Chief Justice met with legislators, even in a public setting (such as a Committee hearing) with members of both major political parties present.”

 Roberts is the worst.

The brain drain is a very real phenomenon in rural America. I’m not saying the Republican voters in these areas are dumb. What I’m saying is that the types of people that would be offended by Trump’s/GOP’s behavior that grew up in these areas are the ones that tend to leave for college and never come back. It’s quite sad honestly.

This, 100%. I made a comment about this in another thread, but basically if you ever go visit one of these dying towns, it's going to be one of the most depressing things you'll ever witness firsthand. Anybody with anything to live for has left. The people who remain aren't even voting for Trump because they think he'll save their sh-tty little town, they're just hoping he'll bring the rest of the country down too.

Condescending attitudes like this are a large part of why Democrats struggle in rural areas. I don't need to visit one of these "dying towns" I live there. As hard as it is for you to believe the vast majority of people who live here would not live anywhere else, myself included. I'm not saying rural areas don't have their problems, they do, but so do suburbs and cities. I may not agree politically with a majority of my neighbors but for the most part they are good people living life the way they want, who the F*** are you to say they have nothing to live for.

I agree that the “nothing to live for” remark was uncalled for. The rest of the point is arguably true, though. I do think a non-insignificant part of why these areas are so attracted to Trump is because of pettiness/vindictiveness/bitterness. I wish there was a way to attract talent back to rural America, because these places really are dying and getting more of a shell of their former selves. That’s not good for anyone in this country, no matter where you live.
Unsure how feasible it is but I saw an idea for geographical based immigration in which immigrants would be allowed to live in a certain number of states and need permission to go to others, could repopulate small farming towns this way, the logistics and culture war make this impossible but a good thought experiment

They’re going over 34 charges and amounts of evidence and witnesses statements. So even going into Monday isn’t really a sign of a hung jury

I’m still waiting for the Pee Tape, personally.

That's one I never believed in even a tiny bit.  Trump is well known as a germophobe, and that really doesn't seem conducive to that sort of activity.

Interestingly, he was extremely careless during the pandemic and caught Covid a month before the election.

Nonetheless, I also highly doubt this pee tape exists.

After everything is said and done, this poll could give us a clue if New Jersey is really in play in November. I do suspect Biden only getting high single digit margin in New Jersey.

"Less investment today means more opportunities tomorrow..." This doesn't make sense.
"Higher taxes today mean more opportunities tomorrow through investment" That's probably not, what the FDP wants to hear..

Are you telling me a credible source like Stephen Colbert would jump on a bed like a child if he didn’t even have evidence?

Goodness me, but a lot of Trade Union officials are getting selected at the last moment. Who would have thought!
I have my issues with Labour, but it's nice to see they still take their name somewhat seriously in terms of their political leadership selection.
Although it’s very much well connected union officials, many of whom have never done a day on the shop floor, rather than ordinary workers.

Still often quite involved in unions though, which is effectively a full time job and not through choice.
