In more relevant news (which may have already been posted here) Muslims in London and Berlin have publicly celebrated the terrorist attacks. Videos show processions of honking vehicles in London and sweets being handed out in Berlin.

DSA-NY is planning a rally celebrating the attack in New York tomorrow as well.
within 72 hours these same people will be calling Israel racist for not agreeing to an immediate cease fire, ya know, 'cause they only want peace
The best thing about these type of people is they always end up in infighting. Like those Putin simps bickering right now on formerly known as Twitter. Turns out the Grayzone is being torn apart via embezzlement and hijacking of its social media accounts by a disgruntled fired employee. Wonderful!

The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin tonight.

Odd déjà vu... it used to be Blue-Yellow colour scheme back in February of 2022.

Ukraine War apparently is over. Zelensky is the biggest loser of this Israel conflict, not only it’s more recent, it’s a way more geopolitically strategic region for the Americans than Ukraine ever was close to be.

Imagine if China declares war with Taiwan too, clearly both Taiwan AND Israel will suck up most of the air inside the West as they’re considered more “important”.

It might surprise you, but countries and their citizens are more than capable of focusing on more than one international crisis at a time. One does not negate the other.

Please. It took less than two years to give you Ukraine fatigue and economic anxiety. In practice people have a very limited attention span.

Each party will prioritize one thing in an hypothetical scenario of conflicts with Russia, China and Iran. And we all know Ukraine will be at the bottom of the list of priorities in comparison to Taiwan and Israel, both of which hold extremely higher geopolitical value for the USA.

And even beyond the media and societal attention span, military resources are also limited. If there’s already talk of “We don’t have more amno and equipment to send to Ukraine”, imagine if you get two new giant geopolitical conflicts to be involved in. You can’t maintain three fronts of war while still reserving stuff for your own self-protection in case someone attacks you.

If anything, in a realistic scenario, US would pick either one of Taiwan or Israel to invest their help in, while Ukraine would most certainly be the forgotten “casualty” in the middle of so many global conflicts, with the Americans giving the excuse that it’s European responsibility to help Ukraine.

Great job on the thread everyone! Congratulations due all around.

I can confidently say that after keeping up with this all day, that I hardly know more about the ongoing war from this thread than I did at 10:00am. On the plus side I now know what an East German apartment looked like.

As predicted, we reach page 25 on same day.

I have a feeling that if there’s no pushback in the West Bank or any other front, Gaza would be quickly overwhelmed conventionally.

It's still a hellish urban environment for an attacker to fight through so not sure about 'quickly'.

Looks pretty clear all sides of politics in Australia are defending Israel's right to defend themselves from islamic terrorists.

And from England, a similar feeling.

Channel 4 News featuring Hamas Spokesman

Palestinian & Hamas Spokesman Ghazi Hamed said:

"I think we were very careful. We are doing very hard to avoid the civilians."

My guess is that the Israelis will make minimal progress after like a week and then get frustrated and bomb them into the stone age.

and this is a member of Likud, not one of their even-more-extreme coalition partners

edit: I misread the tweet as saying he's in "Netanyahu's coalition" not his party, so my information is redundant

very alarming though that this dude isn't even from the most hawkish faction of Bibi's coalition

Yes, unfortunately she later got spooked into betraying her Palestinian Arab constituents.

The only singular day I ever recall things moving remotely this quickly was the Prigozhin "mutiny" and even then I don't think it moved this fast. The 20,000+ posts in the RU-UA war megathread built up over many months and practically two years, didn't they?

If it is betrayal of your constituents to denounce terrorism, then it is good to betray your constituents. We are not a direct democracy and rightly so. Demagogues pander to their constituents' worst instincts; statesmen rise above it and do their best to encourage their constituents to rise with them.

You would probably find the utterly loathsome responses of many Irish politicians to be much more to your liking.

Alarming, but not the least bit surprising. My prediction of a theocracy taking hold by 2035 may be a conservative one.

Thailand is now saying one of their citizens were killed and several others kidnapped during the Hamas raid on Israel.

Hamas has definitely taken business courses on how to make friends and influence people...

Quote
Thailand’s government said that one Thai citizen was killed and four others were kidnapped during the Hamas attack in Israel on Saturday.

Is it too late to bring Jimmy Carter out for the Camp David Accords 2.0?

Why would Israel trust the Palestinians for a Camp David 2? Who would they even negotiate with?

I still don't believe in war, but Israel has much better justification to invade than Putin did for Ukraine.

I'm sorry to hear this. (Assuming you aren't already up to date and just stating this for the record) If you want a more facts based summary, I can recommend some news sources/twitter accounts.

How about Bill Clinton for the Oslo Accords 2.0?
