Meijer doesn't appear to necessarily be toast at all in MI-03 based upon a Kornacki assement I just watched....

A clear majority of Kansas Republicans are still voting yes here.

No, but probably as opposed to independents. It's probably mostly turnout.

If I may modestly counter-doom OSR, I think this is less a sign of Democratic enthusiasm (although that is certainly a factor) and more a sign that a lot of would-be mainstream Republican voters are willing to vote for abortion rights when control over things like the presidency and Congress are not being decided by the vote.

I mean this failing means even a 12 week ban can’t pass

It could have popular support. But the Kansas SC won't allow it.

I think the problem for this vote is KS voters believe the legislature wants to pass something much stricter than that, and they don't want to allow them to do that.

That's possible, but don't discount the possibility that there are just more Democrats turning out.

I don’t know about the average Kansas Republican, but you are way more right on this issue than the average Kansas voter.

Why did "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" start running through my head?

Oh, the flashbacks of sweet, sweet victory...

Funny I just put on an Appleseed Cast album. You see I always play a band from the most relevant state when watching election results, so we need a Kansas soundtrack!

Mind sharing the details? If the Kent vote is early, this appears entirely consistent with my expectations for a Gibbs win.

Most of the outstanding vote is out of Kent which should favor him, at least by the results so far. The big question is from where in Kent are the current votes for him coming from? Is it representative of how the county will break when all the votes are counted?

By my calculation is if remaining votes break as the current votes break Meijer narrowly wins but that's not a done deal.

Do you think this Kansas abortion referendum helps Schmidt in the Governor race? There’s an argument that whoever won this referendum helped the inverse nominee.

In slightly unrelated news: Manchin and Sinema seen talking to Schumer on the Senate floor.

Fellas... I think Sleepy Joe is finally waking up, just in time for the midterms!

He’s correct, though. If the Republicans hadn’t gone all in on total bans and could be trusted to make abortion somewhat more restricted, this might have passed. But the total bans and pregnant 10-year-olds are now the Republican brand on abortion.

Also just finding out there's a Candice Miller who isn't Candice Miller running in Michigan.

Glad to see Haley Stevens appear to be winning in MI-11. I have nothing against Levin but Dems really need to do a better job about getting more younger members and not just have the same old dinosaurs in congress forever.

Dem turnout in MI-11 also seems pretty impressive. Might even reach 50% of Biden's 2020 total.

That is precisely why I donated to her. We need younger, fresher leadership. She's like 30 years younger than Levin. We need more like her, less old dinosaurs like him. I know that might contradict some of my past votes and stances, but I have really changed my tune on that in the Biden administration. It's shocking to see how shallow and/or old the Democratic bench really is. We don't need to kick out promising young talent in favor of guys who will be gone soon anyway. We need to keep building up that bench.

Holy crap, Republicans may have completely screwed themselves.

Whoever leaked that SCOTUS draft opinion and thwarted Roberts' attempts to stop this might have accidentally been the greatest boon to Democratic electoral chances since the 1929 stock market crash.
