Will he be speaking from the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, for old time's sake?

He’d better not reverse course. He did something right. To hell with the war party.

Hopefully not. I've been really proud of him for standing his ground on the withdrawal. Let us all hope he doesn't give into the MIC.

Good. The Taliban's advance was unexpectedly rapid, and the consequences of our withdrawal are turning out to be as horrible as feared. But above and beyond that, we have failed to evacuate our Afghani allies who counted on us and our own people. Biden needs to lead here, and I hope he does so.

And that sucks, but at the end of the day the job of the president is to look out for American citizens first, and far as I know, none have been killed in the withdrawal.

I am wondering why he is doing this so soon after the Taliban takeover.

Can he say anything that will do damage control?

It is not a pretty picture, but I agree with what he did 100% for obvious reasons.

Biden has no incentive to blame Trump for something that is much easier to spin as a popular decision that he made. Has Biden even mentioned Trump at all in any of his remarks as President, aside from cases where a reporter has explicitly asked him about something Trump related?

See the last paragraph here.  https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/08/14/statement-by-president-joe-biden-on-afghanistan/

He's going to blame him today because he needs something to cover his ass with.

Among other dumb things about this post, the President doesn't have the constitutional power to fire the Vice President.

President Pelosi?

Sweet.

Imagine thinking that someone with a 41% very unfavorable approval rating (51% disapproval overall - making her one of the most unpopular elected officials in the country) becoming President is "sweet."

As anyone who reads my posts knows, I'm not inclindd to give Donnie Dumb**** a pass. The situation Biden faced in Afghanistan was the responsibility of previous administrations. I think withdrawal was the best decision that could be made. But the handling of the withdrawal, particularly the evacuation, is the responsibility of Biden and his administration.

I suspect he won't just blame the Trump withdrawal agreement, he's also going to blame the former Afghan "government" and "army". His national security advisor already made that case this morning.

Even if he does blame Trump, he probably won't go as far to call him literally the founder of the Taliban.

Yes, he was blindsided by the weakness of the Afghan defense force -- everyone was -- but Biden shouldn't turn this into a blame game.

There is no way to reverse course now given the government we are backing has already  fallen

Loads of stupid speculation here. How about we just wait the two and a half hours to see what he actually says?
